Day 2 of Marie and Buster's bespoke Skye adventure today! Seeking to build on our skills acquired yesterday and with a good weather forecast, we decided to tackle the In Pinn. Having previously been anxious at the prospect, I was stoked to see Marie respond with enthusiasm and focus to the suggestion. Tired legs from yesterday's meant a shorter distance day was good. We took our time on the initial ascent, glad of the cool morning temps but still caning the fluid on our sun-drenched ascent of the west ridge. Buster was a happy boy, making his own way up toward the start of the easy scrambling on the west ridge approach. We assisted him on and off the rope as required, whilst Marie vastly improved her own scrambling technique and confidence on the intermediate terrain. Buster moved to my rucksack for a couple of sections and spent most of the time licking my ear in a vain search for more pork pies! 😅 Spurred on by the first view of the Pinn, and with a stunning Cuillin panorama unfolding before our eyes, Marie found an extra gear and we made short work of the final ascent to Sgurr Dearg. Unloading her bag into mine, we got Buster strapped into his "Pawpoose" (copyright @kev.mitchell.14!) and I carted him down the slabs to the base of the Pinn for Marie. Following our principles, once Marie was roped up we transferred the bag and Buster onto her back for the climb. After explaining the nuances of gear retrieval, we tried a short pitch to ensure everyone was happy. 4 shining eyes and 2 smiling mouths greeted me at the belay and it was on! Marie dispatched the crux with aplomb and arrived at the second belay. Swift changeover and before long we were all sat atop the Pinn, basking in the panorama. I took Buster back for the abseil, allowing Marie to concentrate on honing her personal skills for this section. Soon we were down, grabbing a second lunch and descending swiftly down ahead of the inbound rain. An excellent effort and achievement from you both over the last couple of days! Thanks very much for having me along! 😀

Dia 8: Ilha Skye Nesse segundo dia na ilha fomos conhecer as Fairy Pools (piscinas das fadas), são pequenas quedas d’água que formam uma paisagem bonita mas não são essenciais para serem visitadas. Seguimos para a visita no castelo de Dunvegan, ele é todo reformado e ainda hoje usado para festas e casamentos. Preserva um pouco da sua identidade e grandiosidade, o charme fica por conta dos seus jardins. Depois fomos para o Neis Point, conhecido também por ser um bom lugar para pôr do sol, mas a previsão do dia não nos permitia ficar até esse horário. Depois de estradas apertadas para chegar, realmente o lugar é lindo. A grandiosidade das montanhas em contato com o mar é linda de apreciar. Também é possível fazer uma trilha até o local do farol. Para finalizar, fomos dar uma volta no “centrinho” da vila de Portree (a maior da ilha) e acabamos jantando em um restaurante bem intimista - ele é indicado pelo guia Michelin mas são apenas 8 mesas e acabamos jantando na área do bar. All my recent yoga focus - Yoga Retreats, my regular Skye Vinyasa classes, as well as my personal practice have been centred around finding mother nature’s elements within us. Playing around with balancing the elements via asana practice, energy of food (following ancient teachings of Ayurveda) and learning more about myself and my students by understanding individual constitutions. I’m so in love! If I drew the path of my yoga journey so far it would look like a tangled necklace with many cross roads on the way. I will forever be a modest student enjoying finding more angles to yoga tradition, deepening my knowledge and sharing it with others. Come Out, Come Out - Alexia Onyx God, did I love this book! Hats off to @alexiaonyxauthor because this was INCREDIBLE. Following recently deceased, now-ghost Aiden and the beautiful, interesting Skye that moves into the house he is haunting, Come Out, Come Out is an amazing dark romance filled with discussions of mental health and ideations, as well as incredibly written spice. It is definitely a book that requires a thorough read of the content warnings listed at the beginning to keep yourself aware and mentally protected. I felt such a connection to Skye, from her looks to her interests to her mental health, she was all around an amazing character full of much-needed, well-done representation. And Aiden was an incredible MMC, perfect for a dark romance, that kept me wanting more. Watching Skye figure out just who this beautiful stranger that keeps randomly appearing in her house is, and why it is that he seems to reappear and disappear without a trace, was fun and enjoyable, especially as you already have an understanding of Aiden’s POV, though when she begins acknowledging and interacting with the ghost in her house, I was, somehow, even more hooked. The ending was predictable but in a way that felt right, like that’s exactly how it should have ended. All in all, I adored this book and think it’s perfect for any dark romance fan! A slightly unusual but very satisfying day for my first day back on Skye this season with Marie and little Buster! 😀 Tbh I'm often reluctant to take bookings involving dogs on the Cuillin. It's something I've done a lot of and enjoy when it's right, but both the dog and human need to want to be there and need to display a level of competence and awareness appropriate to the terrain. Completed my due diligence with a few phone calls to Marie to ascertain her and Buster's experience and ability, recommendation for a new doggy harness and backpack for Marie, and discussion of likely techniques we would employ on the hill. With snow and hail in the forecast, we elected to tackle something fairly short and simple for day 1: Ghreadaidh and Mhadaidh. We knew that the scrambling would likely be ok. As Buster is a very small 6 kilos and very amenable to either being on a rope or being carried, plus pretty good on his feet for a wee dog, plus has lots of munro experience, I felt he would be fine on everything except some of the scree. The larger stuff he could amble over, but the smaller scree on steep ground was likely to present both an obstacle and a potential hazard. As a result, we kept him off rope and walking where possible, I carted him where necessary on the scree, allowing Marie to focus on honing her own scree skills under instruction. We then repacked rucksacks to allow Marie to carry him on the scrambling sections whilst she was roped, which worked very well and was both time efficient and safe. In my mind, I wasn't honestly expecting we'd get both today. A slow approach with Buster, more hail than forecast early on, slippy rock: all contributed to an expectation that we might just get Mhadaidh. However, as soon as we tied in, Marie upped the gears, moving with confidence and purpose on the rock. Buster looked warm, comfortable, happy and actively enjoying the day! We summited Mhadaidh quickly and made our way up back down and out of An Dorus, dispatching the trickier Ghreadaidh in good time. A wee scree school for Marie in descent on the way down as I carted Buster again, and some very long and interesting chats on the swift walk out. 😀
