Castara Tobago has a wood fired "dirt oven" they bake with on Thursdays and Saturdays. They heat it up by burning bamboo and coconut husk. Once the fire burns down they sweep out the ash and then load it full of bread and pastries. This season Nilaya got a massive upgrade. -A 2nd lithium battery (412ah) - Additional solar (530watts) - A front loading freezer - A dirty laundry hamper As maintenance goes, we heard someplace that boats are like a bomb with a lit fuse. From time to time you have to cut the fuse and splice in some more before the bomb goes off. Like so many of us, Grenada has become a place to get some work done. Getting things on the island and receiving shipments is easy enough. Duty free(ish). So while we wait for hurricane season to pass we take advantage of this. Hopefully get everything cut, sanded, wired and working just in time to make it all look like the easy life. Anyone living aboard full time is never really fully retired. Look! A giant manta ray and a little backstory on our trip back to the states...So, we made it to St. Augustine and the passage was kinda just meh (very technical sailing term). We needed there to be more wind which means we were getting tossed all around by the waves. It was hard to sleep with all the racket the sails were making as the main tried to jibe about 1000 times. And I lost my best lure to a fish that ran out my reel which caused the line to snap so off he went. It wasn't great, it wasn't dangerous, it was exactly how sailing in the north Atlantic seems to always go...just meh. Saw this monster of a manta ray as we were coming in the inlet and just before him there was a huge sea turtle. I'll take the good (sea creatures) with the not so good(the ocean smacking us about) of this lifestyle any day! Happy Thanksgiving from the Atlantic Ocean! Our apologies to anyone who wished us a Happy Thanksgiving and received no response back - we had a very intentionally unplugged holiday. The last 40ish hours have been spent making the jump from Georgetown, SC to Jacksonville, FL. . The locals call these "gato solos" the more common name is coati. The Rio Chagres is absent of human noise but the wildlife is LOUD. Many of the animals and birds were really difficult to photograph. We had half a dozen howler monkeys in a tree 50 yards from our boat. What a sound they make!
