It’s been a long time since I’ve been THIS happy! After one of his best Lost Dog Tracks (pictured next to the 🐶 collar).. Copper got weighed at the vets. 🙌🏻 33KG 🎉 Genuinely took me about an hour to stop crying; full on happy tears! 🥲 To put this into perspective, he has not been 33kg since November 2023 (and this was just a short-lived spike!), we’ve not managed to get him consistently above 30.5/31kg for ages and he has not been his full weight (37kg) since March 2023 before he got sick. I can’t believe how much emotion and worry I’ve been holding in that came out today. Hi! ✨Let me reintroduce myself✨ This past February I was diagnosed with IBD (irritable bowel disease). My biggest symptom was throwing up my food which lead to surgery to get biopsy of my stomach. This really doesn’t effect me much. I will live a long happy energetic life with some modifications to my diet. I get prescription food, supplements, and B12 injections for flare ups. The reason I am sharing all of this is to raise awareness of not sharing dog treats/food with dogs other than your own without asking permission first. Trust me, my mama is watching and will speak up but sometimes it isn’t in time. I love treats but only ones that I am cleared to have. When I ingest food I am not suppose to have, I can be sick for several days after. I don’t like being sick. It requires me to stay home. I love being social and seeing my friends a doggy daycare. Hiya friends Mark the vet rang mammy last night for an update on how the new drugs are going. We told him that there is no difference in my symptoms as yet. He said not to worry as we started on such a low dose it doesn’t mean I don’t have MG. I’ve to carry on for another week or so then we will see about upping the dose. Hiya everyone. Little update from my vet visit. He has ordered me some medication for Myasthenia Gravis and when it arrives I’ll be starting on a low dose to see if there’s any improvement. He said to start low especially as it can affect the stomach and the way mine is we don’t want to set that back. We would also have scope to increase the dose if needed. While Q was out charming everyone and stealing hearts and blankets today, I’ve been busy treating myself to his Furlex custom cuff made by @ggcrew_the_geweler and indulging in delicious 100% vegan cookies from @bbpetcookies 😋 👨🏻🍳 As many of our friends already know, I follow a vegan diet not because it’s trendy, but for health reasons. This means sticking to my prescription kibble and ice chips. However, last year we were fortunate enough to win some cookies from @bbpetcookies. Mom was initially hesitant, (being the helicopter mom and stage five clinger) concerned about my dietary restrictions, but Sussy from @bbpetcookies was up for the challenge. Mozi’s first race at Catton Hall back in 2018. The photo by @horsesforcoursesphotography came up on my FB memories and seemed a good one for the next Mozi update. So as of today we have him on antifungal medication and he is down to 15mg of steroids once a day. He has had to come off the Atopica to have the antifungal stuff and the fungal infection is more critical than his IBD, so we are taking the hit on his gut to get rid of the infection. We started the antifungal meds whilst he was on 25mg of pred but we saw a massive increase in water intake and desperately needing to go for a wee so we took him in for bloods worried about his kidneys - even though that’s not even a side effect of either drug. Kidneys are fine but he is anaemic again and his liver enzymes have shot up. Being he has to take antifungal meds for a month we are reducing his steroids to try and help his liver. So currently really hoping that he doesn’t have a massive IBD flare as there is nothing we can do till we have completed the course of antifungal meds. Poor boy is still really underweight. Had a vet appointment last Friday because Hooman noticed my eyes are getting cloudy a bit. The good news is that the vet said it’s nothing to worry about yet, most likely just part of getting old. I’m almost 11.5 anyway. I mean, Hooman took this photo while we were playing “see if Hooman can surreptitiously snatch her slipper back” and I was following her hand super close, at every angle, even when she tried to snatch it from the periphery. The bad news is that I had gained 1.5 lbs, which means no cheese for me for a bit 😂😂😂😂 It’s gonna be a tough few weeks! But I’m just glad everything else is well in Buddyverse. “My name is Obie and I have Inflammatory Bowel Disease” For those who have been keeping up with our pup Obie’s progress, you’ll know that Obie fell really poorly recently and we thought it was the end of the road for him. Pancreatitis, peritonitis, a massive infection and a damaged oesophagus meant the odds weren’t in his favour 🥺 Thankfully, Obie was sent to @wearreferrals who absolutely saved his life 🩵 for which me and James are eternally grateful 🩵 today Obie joins us back home for the first time in nearly 2 weeks. Low to ultra-low fat for those with PLE or pancreatitis. 🌱 Low fibre/low residue for those who are fibre-sensitive; and higher fibre or fibre supplementation for those who are fibre-responsive 💊 Ensuring nutritional balance through expertly-formulated nutrition (whether that be through commercial therapeutic diets or home recipe routes), and supplementation for nutritional deficiencies. 💧 Access to fresh water and preventing dehydration. Remember: ⏰ It can take up to 6-12 weeks to see *full improvement* from diet intervention. Partial improvement or clinical response may be seen within 2 weeks. 🍽️ Roughly 50-60% of CE/IBD dogs are *fully diet-responsive*. I was so happy about it!😘❤️ Monday was very stressful but my dear vet Doc Mrs Glück (Glück means Luck in german and Mummy says the name must be the program here!🍀) said to Mummy when she picked me up that I was the darling of the ward! 🥰 Everything went quite well, but I was very tired from all the stress. In the evening I unfortunately had severe diarrhea again, but since then I've been doing very well.
