Last week we gathered with FSC-IF Indigenous governance bodies and IPARD partners and funders for an annual Pause and Reflection event. We facilitated constructive dialogue and collaboration within the FSC-IF community regarding governance, sustainability, and future opportunities. We exchanged knowledge and experiences from around the world, shared results, lessons learned, and models of our IPARD Program, and discussed the principles and responsibilities associated with being an Indigenous-led organization. As part of Health In Harmonyโs 2024 partnership with @doctorswithoutborders , Radical Listening sessions have begun in three communes across the Ikongo district in Eastern Madagascar. Within the sessions, community members lead conversations on solutions for local forest protection. Over the next three months, Radical Listening sessions will take place in over 70 villages highlighting the Indigenous and local expertise and initiatives to improve the health of the forest and people living alongside. In a #COP28 side event, Indigenous leaders discussed empowering Indigenous communities with direct access to climate finance and opportunities and challenges of carbon markets. Panelists concluded that it is vital to ensure the respect of Indigenous Peoplesโ rights in the development of carbon markets.
