Pulling out some recipes I haven’t made in a while. Spring sports still in high gear BUT we’ll have no dance again until the fall! And sac requested risotto and salmon so it’s on the menu! Making sure my famiky and I get a diverse mix of veggies and proteins throughout the week is important. When you can get your vitamins and minerals from your unprocessed foods, your body will perform so much better. Nature does a great job of making sure the right blend of nutrients are in food to maximize nutrient absorption. Here are a few pairings to note: Vitamin C and Iron (leafy greens with citrus, tomatoes or bell peppers) Vitamin A & healthy fats (fat soluble vitamins need fat to be readily absorbed… sweet potato, carrots & tomatoes are wonderful vitamin A sources so pair them with avocado, olive oil or salmon as an example!) Protein + Carbohydrates… pair these together to speed muscle repair and refuel. By eating your protein BEFORE your carbs, you WILL lower the glycemic index and help level out sharp blood sugar spikes after eating. Carbs are not the enemy. Last night's meal prep or how to stay carnivore when you don't have access to your kitchen during the week. ⬅️ Swipe for more pics if you like to see other people's process. My husband eats all his meals during the week away from our home. He has been carnivore since Mother's Day last year. How to solve making meals for him that are carnivore but can be easily stored, reheated, and transported to wherever he is going. That's 12 lbs of ground beef purchased with my whole steer from a local farmer. We buy a whole steer 3 times per year. Some weeks I make 15lbs if the work week is going to be longer. To each 9x13, I add 3lbs beef, 1 egg, some Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix, flatten out again, bake at 350°F to desired doneness (which in my husband's case is 30 minutes for not very much pink). Break each pan into 3 parts. Add the fat back to the meat after it is in containers. I freeze these so they last longer before he eats them. They have to make it a whole week or sometimes more, and there are no preservatives in this. Optional but not pictured today is 3 lbs of cooked bacon spread out on top of the 12lbs of meat and a few tablespoons of bacon grease on top. You can @ me about the plastic containers. It isn't about the cost of glass. I use glass at home for our leftovers. The bulking experiment ⚖️ I have committed to gaining weight until I hit 110kgs.🫃🏻 I’ve been eating the same foods, prioritizing 80% nutrient-dense, and the remainder enjoying life. I was doing the exact same when I was 96kgs, just eating less. I’m doing this experiment purposely for you guys, for a couple of reasons: 1. To show you that you can still enjoy life and lose weight. 2. Finding balance and not demonizing foods on your journey to achieving your goals. I’m enjoying the process but prefer being leaner. I started using an app to track my calories and macros a few weeks ago. It’s really helped me make better decisions when it comes to my nutrition. I haven’t been weighing myself, but based off of how I’m feeling and what I’m seeing, it’s working!
