His interest in EBM led him to explore other styles such as downtempo, psy trance, break beat, electro, IDM, trip-hop and minimal. Currently, his acts are divided into two types of DJ sets: a dancefloor-oriented style ranging from experimental techno to industrial, and another type of set that focuses on experimental genres such as ambient or advanced electronic music. The Hungarian label Exiles welcomed the new year with a very interesting and very attractive proposal for all those lovers of deconstructive music, polyrhythms, complex structures and extreme sound designs. Assets is an album divided into two units that are differentiated according to their style or influences, as both releases try to identify themselves with quite specific terms but, undoubtedly, what they exhibit are a series of quite anarchic patterns, which do not respond to certain principles. Each unit is composed of 8 tracks by different artists. Some of them have already released their music on Exiles, as is the case of 3HDSafxri, who last year signed an album on this label and another one on Subsist Records, as well as yokai kai, who also released an album on the Hungarian label last year. The rest of the authors are making their debut on Exiles, and many of them are releasing their music for the first time. However, although most of them are new artists, this does not affect the quality of the album, as the compositions are highly original and sophisticated. . We have seen many artists succumb to fads, many big names who have failed to adapt their outdated style to the new era, and fortunately, there are also projects that are born with a less conventional musical purpose to which they have remained faithful throughout their career. Huren, pseudonym of Dave Foster, is one of those projects that have remained unchanged for more than two decades. We should start by talking about your long career, as you have been releasing music as Huren for more than two decades. You have released a few albums under other aliases, but Huren is your most prominent project, how does it differ from your other monikers and why is it your strongest bet? Well this mess has gone on so long – one could say I’ve worn out my welcome! Well past the point of absurdity hah!. I Always appreciate anyone paying attention at this stage. So many have come and gone since this all started… Three decades since the teste release now and several abrupt shifts and detours along the way. Everyday is a miracle for me.. I discuss some of it in this great discussion with Ron here… More than one could possibly stomach . But thats why its authentic! This music is ultimately from a place of alienation and chaos. The sound of Shut-Ins and psychotics… So why/how to sugarcoat it? GosT aka James Lollar is one of the acts that has recently moved from pure synthwave to a crossover style mixing the genre with other elements, a way followed by other names like Perturbator and Carpenter Brut. If anything characterises Subsist Records, it is its frenetic activity and its transitions to adapt to a sound that defines it at any given moment, although within its vast catalogue we can find references to different styles and above all, sub-genres and different interpretations of techno. Possibly, many of his followers associate this project with a technological sound, with a futuristic environment in which the high frequencies redesign the landscape. The latest release from this Valencian label shows different interpretations of what many call sci-fi techno. The EP is released on vinyl and the A-side opens with an artist who has been defending this sound for years, which has not gone unnoticed by a label like Axis Records, which we can consider today as the platform that best represents this sound on a global level. After years of hard work and constant activity, SOJ has managed to build a platform with a fairly specialised and recognisable sound, which is also created in its own image and likeness. The style of Soil Records fits perfectly with the creative idea of its head, and this is not at all generalised, it is not enough to say that the label sounds like electro and EBM with low fidelity sound treatments, to affirm that Soil Records has its own sound, which we can link to the figure of SOJ, means that every detail, every harmonic conjugation and every texture that appears in its tracks or in its releases faithfully oozes the essence of this project. The next album to be released on this label defines this reasoning very well, and it is not a homogeneous work, as each track adopts its own character and uses different sound sources. John Carpenter is an American director, screenwriter, producer, editor and composer, a pivotal figure and influence for both the horror movie genre and its soundtracks. Starting out of necessity and with a very minimal budget, he introduced the use of synths and samples in the world of soundtracks, largely dominated by orchestral and traditional sounds at the time. By time, he created a personal approach instantly recognizable and famous themes fixed in the collective memory, as for example the creepy piano of Main Theme From “Halloween”. He collaborated with Alan Howarth on many scores like “Escape From New York”, the Halloween series and many others, as well as with Jim Lang, Dave Davies, Shirley Walker and recently his own son Cody Carpenter. “Halloween Kills” is the soundtrack for the homonymous movie from David Gordon Green, second installment in a remake series. Farron is one of the pseudonyms of German artist Christoph, one of several projects by an author committed to the diversity that different genres of electronic music can offer. Having grown up as a skateboarder in a small town near Munich, Christoph started to build his musical foundation on hip hop, reggae and punk from an early age. Electronic music didn’t play a big role in his early years, but his curiosity started to grow when he got into the clubs near Munich. Christoph entered new and exciting realms after enriching visits to the local club Harry Klein. The following years were spent visiting various clubs in the nearby Bavarian capital, so his interest in different artists and labels grew.
