The song by the same name ‘Strawberry Gashes’ was written to let people know what to say to a depressed friend to make them understand how difficult it is to explain self harm, addiction, mental illnesses or mental fatigue. Addams said in an 2001 interview, “This song is about several girls, myself included struggling with depression, drugs, abuse and self harm. “Strawberry Gashes” only loosely refers to self harm. It was also my way to deal with and pay tribute to the loss and #grief I felt after a close friend died of a heroin overdose.” @jessickaaddams The term Strawberry Gashes got popularized because it gives conflicted possibly traumatized people a phrase to use to make their lives appear to have elements of joy as associated with the word strawberry. Clear Hearts Grey Flowers is the second and last studio album by riot-goth band Jack Off Jill. It was released through 404 Music and Risk Records on July 17, 2000. It was produced by Chris Vrenna of Nine Inch Nails. The album didn’t gain much promotional support after the closure of Risk Records a few months before it was released.
