Hello, everyone. It’s been a while since I posted here, as it’s been a while since I’ve felt up to posting. I’ve been through some intense personal stuff over the last couple of months, but now feels like the right time to come back to this platform and give you all an idea of what I’ve been up to, musically-speaking. Well… I’ve just finished writing a new song, “Troubadours Down the Road,” and it is the first song I’ve written on my new, soulmate harp ❤️. As of now I have a nice collection of newer songs, more than enough for a new album, but the task of creating additional instrumentation for them (whistles, harmonium, banjo-uke, etc.) still lays ahead. Shalomis and I are working on some really neat musical collaborations, and are hoping to perform some original material, as well as some folk tunes we enjoy playing, on various instruments. If you are wondering about the not-so-pretty-looking, tiny tin-whistle in the picture… Weeks ago, my husband and I went to explore a sale of items which had once been store-stock. I was excited to discover a drawer full of old tin-whistles. Lots and lots of them! I found only one that sounded in-tune—indeed, many of them didn’t make any sound at all. So I brought that little sweetie home, and I’m very pleased to say it sounds much better than it looks 😂, and is in the key of F, which is a first, for me. We found this kitty in front of a local shopping center a year and a half ago, and she is a wonderful, funny, incredibly gentle creature. But for some reason she HATES being picked up, though she loves rubbing our legs (and everything else!). Yesterday, a miracle happened- she joined me in the music room… put out a paw… sat behind me on my bench… and then actually sat on my lap! I played an entire song on the dulcimer with her snuggled next to it. Just goes to show, don’t give up quickly 😊. May I introduce the first nine cabochons I have cut with my drill press! These have gone through a 12 hour fusing process. They have then been cut with the drill press. Next I will grind their edges and coldwork them with four grades of diamond hand pads. Nine years ago today, my family and I arrived in Israel, to make it our permanent home. Life has changed a lot, I have changed, and we have all been through a lot since then. These days I often feel so strange posting about my personal, small experiences, but then, I guess people who follow me here generally do so because they are interested in my music and what goes on behind the scenes. So, for those that are interested, I’d like to share a post about my newly-acquired harp. This harp traveled to me with a very kind relative of my husband’s, straight from England! It took a while, trial-and-error, and a whole lot of patience, to get it ready to be played. Special thanks to @masaelguitars for the great repair jobs! And now that I’ve been playing it for a good few weeks, I’m in love ❤️. The warm, crisp tone of this mighty little instrument is the sound I’ve dreamed of for years. I am so grateful to have it, and so grateful to its previous owner for her patience with the shipping details and complications. "One in Joy" is the fifth song on my new album. There is a big, incredible amusement park called “Balagan”, at Kibbutz Yagur, near Haifa. We took our children there several times, and they had a fantastic time! I felt myself at one with their effusive joy, and clung to the preciousness of that joy, which I knew was all too fleeting. “Redeemed” is the fourth song on my new album, and is loosely based on a true story. In it I address a young, adopted girl who is reaching her teen years. The second track on my new album is called, “Beloved Galil.” I visited Israel for the first time when I was 15. Incredibly, my high-school took the whole tenth grade here! That was definitely a life-changing experience for me. Upon experiencing the northern region, known as the Galilee, or Galil in Hebrew, I recall remarking, “one day this is gonna be my backyard.” 🙂❤️ For years after that, I dreamed of living there. So when we moved to Israel in 2015, we started out in the beautiful northern city of Ma’alot. But after a short stint there, my husband and I decided that it would be best to move southward, feeling it would be more conducive to living out our ideals. I went through a period of mourning for my dream, and this song was born out of the internal struggle to come to peace with not living in the landscape I so loved and connected with. I’ve found it very difficult to get my head and heart into fusing in the last couple of weeks. However, these two pieces are very special as they both have connections to recognising sadness whilst experiencing joy. The first is a glass I have made which will be smashed under a chuppah (at a Jewish wedding ceremony). One of the significances of this is reminding us that at our most joyous time there are others who are suffering. This will be returned to me after smashing and I will make a mezuzah case for the couple. The second photo is a mezuzah case I have made using the glass which had been smashed at someone else’s chuppah. The final photo is a heart mounted in a deep box frame. The heart is also make from another person’s smashed chuppah glass. Hello, everyone! Though I have a tween and a teen at home all day this summer 😳, I’m glad to say that a new single is on the way! 😅 This song was inspired by our move, three years ago, from a tiny town at the northern edge of the Negev Desert to a town called Efrat. It struck me how much of a difference the presence of big, full, and abundant trees made to me, with their friendly and comforting energy. This upcoming song compares the hope of community and friendship in a new town to the presence of trees-reliable, beautiful, and steadfast. (This will also be the last single before the big album release!! 😀😀😀 And it will be the debut recording, in my music, of two instruments. 🎶🪕😊)

Hi everyone! I figured I’d give you an update on the upcoming album! Six of the twelve songs have now been mixed and mastered. I’m working on a new skill with the banjo-uke, and hope to record a few parts with it within a few weeks. I may have a junior guest-vocalist join me on a track 🙂, and hope my percussionist son will join me on another 😃. So really just tying up some loose ends! Will keep you all posted 😃🎶.

Haven’t posted in a while. The last couple of weeks.. Pesach/Passover kept me very busy, with the children home and guests over and such… And the violent deaths of three members of a beautiful, local family at the hands of a terrorist have shaken us all deeply. So I haven’t felt much like posting for a while… But today I was finally able to get back to recording in my home studio, and it felt wonderfully purposeful to do an edit and lay down the backing vocals for a song called “Old Friend.”
