As many of you have seen, our church is doing a collective 21 Day Fast as we embark on the New Year and all that God has for us in 2024. While some are fasting from social medial, others are taking a break from a meal a day or fasting from a certain food group. We are so blessed to have this sweet family working alongside us as LBC is soaring through their third year in existence.โช๏ธ Pastor Bobby dedicates his efforts to our growing music ministry while also teaching an adult class on Sunday mornings. His wife, Trina is our nursery director and teaches a ladies class as well. They have two talented children who attend college nearby-Jessica, who jumps in to serve anywhere and everywhere, kids, nursery, music- you name it. Robert, their son, serves at his campus church in Florida, but helps us every time he is in attendance in a number of ways including setting up and breaking down, greeting and music. ๐ถ We couldn't do what we do without these people and wanted to help you get to know them a little better. Meet Ric! For many months, your church fam had been praying for a specific prayer request as it came up on the screen each weekend. A few months ago, we finally got to meet the person we had been praying for. Sally, a wonderful woman in our church community, had placed a prayer request that God would open doors for her fiancรฉ, Ric - and He did. Sally & Ric have been such a blessing to Lighthouse, particularly in our Mackay campus launch. They traveled to Mackay to help prepare the campus for its October service, bringing such a warm and bright presence to the team. So grateful for these people. When Jesus talks about forgiveness, he tends to link it to the idea of a debt. Ever heard or used these words? ๐ฌ "She owes me an apology." ๐ฌ "You deserved it." ๐ฌ "I just want to see them pay." Well, Jesus defined forgiveness as canceling a debt. (See Matthew 18:21-45 for more." But how can you do this, especially when there's so much hurt and pain involved? First, you have to IDENTIFY THE DEBT. Keep in mind that forgiveness does not negate the consequence of the action. Then, you CANCEL THE DEBT. Colossians 2:14 says, โHe [Jesus] blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us and contrary to us, and He took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.โ How beautiful is it that we didnโt even have to ask for forgiveness? Jesus already gave it through His death & resurrection. It doesn't seem possible that Thanksgiving is only a little over a week away! ๐ฆ We are so pumped for some extra family time, some rest and relaxation, and of course.... PIE. ๐ฅง It seems pie takes the back burner throughout the year until Thanksgiving finally comes back around. ๐๐ผ For the past couple of years, our church has had a time of fellowship to really focus on the blessings of God and sing some songs in praise to our Savior.๐ต We joke about pie of course, but we encourage everyone to bring your favorite pie as we reflect on all that God has given to us. This Tuesday fellowship time will take the place of our normal Wednesday service as we celebrate thanksgiving with our families. In this season of busyness in our lives, let us take a few moments each day to truly meditate on all that God has given us. We live such blessing-filled lives and it's easy to forget how good we really have it. Let this time be an opportunity to remember why we celebrate this holiday as we also get to know some newcomers at Lighthouse.
