It was a day filled with community spirit and impactful action! 👨👩👧👦 Family Fun: The event was a hit with families, especially the kids who absolutely loved the experience! After the cleanup, volunteers enjoyed a friendly football game and a delightful picnic. 🍽️⚽ 🚮 Impressive Impact: Together, we collected a staggering 52.9 kg of trash, including almost 3,000 cigarette butts! Final Chapter of the Trilogy So last year being my first #ServetheCity I didn’t know anyone, I almost didn’t go because I had psyched myself out but when I commit to something I do it. And when we got placed in our groups no one was talking in mine at first, and then I finally broke out of my awkwardness and spoke up and that’s when these two guys started talking back with me and by the end of it I felt like it was a day well spent because not only did we do really good work, but I got to know some really great people. So when we were leaving they asked what service I attended and I told them and they said I should come sit by them and they would introduce me to more people and better yet I wouldn’t have to sit alone. But here’s the thing I love most, these guys opened up more than just the 9am service for me, it was a friendship that continued on after service which I wasn’t used too. You know, I would go to service and then go home or do something else with my day, but regardless of whatever I ended up doing, I ended up always doing it pretty much alone. So by meeting @dmedo and @john__sullivan__ it led to me not having to do things alone anymore on Sundays. But past just that one day of the week, both of them have been so incredibly inviting to me and they’ve become two friends that I’ve come to trust in, two friends who have given me life advice that holds so much weight to it, and for me one of the most important things is they’ve shown up for me at some of my biggest and even smallest moments and that means the world to me. I don’t take for granted this friendship in the least and I’m grateful that we got to come back to where it all started for us. Chapter Two of the Trilogy: Honestly this was around the exact spot where I was last year, just standing by myself and thinking I wasn’t going to talk to anyone and just serve and be on my way during the first Serve the City with @crosspoint.tv at @byfaithfarm and then this guy walks over and starts talking to me. Tthen all of a sudden when we broke into groups we were split up, but he told me to find him and his (now) wife afterwards and we would link up. Well, afterwards I went looking and met up with @trandolph24 and @sarah88keys and we talked for a long while after we realized Sarah and I had a music connection and knew @emilyann_music because of @nbcthevoice and then talked about services at @crosspoint.tv and just ended with them talking about this men’s group Trevor helped lead and if I would be interested and being someone who was desperately longing for community at @crosspoint.tv I jumped in and I didn’t look back. Through that group it gives me not just something to look forward to during my week, every week but allows me a chance to grow and to project the lessons and the teachings that I’ve grown up with all my life with those around me. This group of men really do challenge each other and ask the complex and critical questions that makes men challenge and look at their faith differently but in a good, healthy way. And it’s good to see how this group has known each other since childhood almost and it means the world to me that they have been so welcoming and inviting especially to a stranger. I look at the blessings that doing Serve the City brought me and this was one of the major ones right here and I couldn’t be more taken a back as to realizing I almost didn’t go that day and I would’ve missed out on something that went past just one day. God’s faithfulness is powerful, especially when you stay the path thinking how long do I have to do this alone? Last September was my first Serve the City with @crosspoint.tv and I went to @byfaithfarm and it was a day that honestly changed so much for me and my journey not only with CrossPoint but just life in general and I’m forever grateful for that. As I post the next day or so, I’ll tell more of my journey and the people who shaped that. But let me tell you about these three. This year I was approached to co-lead a project and when the idea of By Faith Farm came up I didn’t even think twice, I said “YES!” and I am so glad I did because I got to co-lead alongside these three incredible human beings whom are such wonderful human beings and when they say it takes a team to lead, it truly does. Major shoutout goes to Jennifer who truly led the three of us and did so much work because she believes in this project and more so what By Faith Farm does and makes the rest of us believe it too. Heute war ich mit einer tollen und flexiblen Gruppe beim Frühlingsfest im Flüchtlingsheim. Das Wetter war okay, kein Regen, aber etwas Kühl. Wir hatten Kindergesichter bemalt, Henna Tattoo, Teller bemalt und mit Bewohnern Blümchen und Kräuter eingepflanzt.🥳🥳🥳🤩🤩🤩 Today we were at a refugee shelter at their "spring festival", even though it was a bit cool. The group was fantastic and very flexible. Wonderful!
