This week marks the 6th month I’ve been working at the amazing @ynyshirrestaurant. As their Resident DJ part of my job is to play a 5hr vinyl only DJ set, 4 days a week providing the heartbeat to the restaurant. When I started I promised @garethwardchef and myself that I would not play the same set ever or rarely the same record…. That’s A LOT of records! 6 months later I stay true to my word. I have always maintained that as a DJ you are only as strong as your collection, and you are never bigger than the records you play! My work is often outshined when it’s paired with handmade ceramics. I actually really enjoy being the natural underdog in this context though - when I played in a band, I played bass guitar - no alpha male solos for me thank you, but propping up the rhythm section felt just right, in the middle of the action. It’s been great to get these big service trays delivered to one of the best restaurants in Britain @ynyshirrestaurant and see how they feel in the restaurant with the tables, light, ceramics. These trays do exactly what they were designed to do - not be shouty, but to act as a really considered backdrop for the handmade ceramics, iron and wood the sublime food is served in. We love this review which reflects our guests had an amazing stay and really made the most of their visit. The Minffordd car-park/nearest starting point up to Cader Idris is about 20 minutes drive from Gwenllian and is a stunning mountain hike. We are also very pleased our guests enjoyed their visit to @gwenrestaurant - Gwen Restaurant, owned by @garethwardchef of 2 Michelin star @ynyshirrestaurant is a relatively new restaurant in town and the food is fabulously good. It is also a winebar and the selection of wines are outstanding - highly recommended. As these guests have noted, it’s definitely worth booking in advance. Machynlleth high street has a superb range of quality shops selling beautiful products, and Gwen restaurant and wine-bar compliments them perfectly. Machynlleth is a town batting well-above the average and we at @glampio_noddfa_glamping are very lucky to have such quality locally.
