Visit his website here if you'd love more of his work: https://pauldavidlondon.com/ During the Minare's period on Earth, they established outposts on the planet as footholds for terrestrial operations. To help prevent escapees or the occasional rescue raids by some of the more daring humans, the Minare built large moats around their structures and introduced what many would later come to call 'lobsurtles'. This opportunistic alien species would eventually spread out to other soggy and overcast locations around the world. When the Anuh-Kaj began their colonization efforts, an industry of hunting the creatures down developed for the purpose of both, helping to protect colonial interests and to manufacture lobsurtle-based products. I wanted these alien animals to resemble a cross between their combined namesake, a lobster and a turtle. (Though what I wanted them to look more like were crayfish and leatherback sea turtles in particular, so technically it's a misnomer.) Their look was to give an impression that they're incredibly hardy and can thrive in dirty, damp environments, even if heavily polluted. In addition, they were to be large and dangerous, but still vulnerable to being defeated or somewhat tamed.
