I have never seen another quite like it, as it has a lid that lifts off decorated with more ruffled crepe paper and the head of a hat-wearing black cat. The charming kitty has hand-painted facial features. Hailing from the 1930s or the 1940s, this piece exemplifies the care that was taken when preparing for a festive Hallowe'en gathering during this time. It would have been filled with candy, perhaps candy corn, and used as a decoration for the place setting or even as a game prize. It measures 3โ high counting kittyโs haunted hat. The exact condition is as follows: The condition is excellent with a bit of writing on the underside. There is a small area of darkening to the yellow crepe paper hat. The wonderful book written by the Campanelliโs, which is now out of print, is an extremely valuable reference for the collector. This book was written in 1995, and I believe their collection was distributed in 2003. Itโs been a while, but Iโm back with a selection of Jack OโLanterns ๐ L-R a small decoration circa 1920โs by Dennison, two place cards by an unknown maker circa 1920โs-30โs (some nice detailed illustrations) and lastly a fantastic tally by the P.F Volland Company from the mid 1920โs. I love the way the playing card suits give the JOL a sinister look! The Invitation was made by Rust Craft of Bolton in the 1920โs. I really appreciate the gold toning used.
