As the franchise progressed, Ifrit’s summon became one of the weakest as he usually is acquired early on in the game. This can be noted in X, as Ifrit is obtained in the second cloister of trials, in Kilika Temple. However, summons’ role shifted and evolved in XV. Their role grew substantially within the story telling of the game. Ifrit’s appearance also changed to a humanoid horned creature - a variation to his design that was often used in the subcategories of the franchise. On the other hand, the relationship with the other summons was kept, as he was one of the five Astrals.
