Nettle Earnest has now been released! I was delighted to preview knit this beautiful vest by Maddie Harvey. There are lots of options including a split hem and ties on the side instead of sewing up the pieces which looks really sweet. It was my first time knitting a pieced garment and I surprised myself by really loving the construction and using mattress stitch to put her together. Remember my Talulah Cardigan and wondered what became of it? 🤔 I had already started to write up the pattern. But to be honest, I had to put it completely on hold. 😣 While wearing my sample I noticed that I am not as happy with the cardigan as I first thought when I finished it. I don't enjoy wearing it. It rarely gets worn at all. The truth is that there are several things that need to be improved: - the back neckline is too wide - the v-neck in the front is a little too deep for my taste - I am not happy that I chose 4 instead of 5 buttons and - most importantly, I am not happy with my yarn choice The first three issues I could simply fix by making changes while writing up the pattern. But the yarn issue is different. If I choose another yarn, the gauge might change and therefore all the grading that I have done so far would need to be re-done. 😱 So, I need to postpone the pattern writing until I found a better yarn and made another sample. But what's wrong with the yarn? In general: nothing! BC Garn Loch Lomond is a lovely yarn that I used for several other projects before. I absolutely loved using it for my Boughs of Holly Sweater and my Season's Greetings Hat. It's perfect for colorwork projects. But for a cardigan it simply has not enough drape - at least in my opinion. It sits rather stiff on me instead of draping around my body. I don't like that at all. Which means that for now, I don't continue working on the pattern. Not until I found a better yarn. I am very sorry to keep you waiting. But I really want to prioritize producing good quality patterns, not releasing them as quickly as possible. ✨ March progress/ April wips ✨ Once again, better late than never posting my monthly update. I had been feeling pretty deflated, and beating myself up a bit about how 'little' progress I thought I'd made on my wips this month. I am wearing my latest finished object today. 🙌 #talulahCardigan All in all I am very happy with how the Talulah Cardigan turned out. 😊 But I am going to make some tiny adjustments when I write the pattern: I find the back neckline a little too wide for my taste and I think, I would prefer 5 buttons instead of 4. Also, I absolutely love this dress that I sewed last year. Sadly I accidently ripped it beyond repair this morning. 😭 So this is the last day that I got to wear it. Hmm, I really loved knitting the Cecil Shawl! 😍 It was very easy to knit (if you get used to all the tangling, but I kind of got a rhythm in it and it was okay), it's basically just garter stitch but you hold some mohair with the main colour, creating these beautiful colour blocks. And I am also very happy with my Ravenclaw Scarf! 🦅 I have wanted one for so long and this very easy rib knitting was just what I needed. Oh and I can't forget the slippers! Those where for my husband. They have very interesting construction and again, I enjoyed the simplicity of the process. ✨ February WIP Progress ✨ I'm so proud of the progress I made in my knitting during February. These aren't even all the things I knit last month, just the ones I carried through at the beginning of the month and I love all of them equally. I (like a lot of people I'm sure) find the start of the year tricky to navigate. I love the festive season but as soon as January comes and the twinkly lights are taken down and the regular routine sets back in, I find the joy of things starts to dwindle a little. ღღ Anleitung ღღ Mit dem letzten Post zu diesem Sweater möchte ich Euch etwas zur Anleitung erzählen. Grundsätzlich ist die Anleitung sehr für geschrieben, der Anfang ist sehr leicht bis man zu den Ähren kommt! 1. Aufbau des Reports Da muss man nämlich kurz Durchsteigen 🤔 Wie soll ich das erklären? Das Muster wiederholt sich z.B. gehen die Ähren am Anfang (fiktive Zahl) über 7 Maschen und in der Anleitung werden tatsächlich NUR diese 7 Maschen beschrieben, welche sich dann über die Runde stets wiederholen. Wenn man das einmal verstanden hat, überhaupt kein Problem. 2. Die Ähren selbst Wirklich, ich kann Zopfen überhaupt nicht leiden, gar kein bisschen! Aber dieses Muster ist wirklich zu schön! Ich kann Euch empfehlen, die Umschläge für die Ähren extrem weit zu machen, dann sind die folgenden Reihen deutlich einfacher. Ggf. beim Zopfen eine Nadelstärke größer nehmen, wenn es Euch hilft 🧶 Hier gibt es auch einige YouTube Videos und ich habe auch schon ein Reel dazu gemacht. ღღ Wolle und Zertifizierung ღღ Endlich komme ich dazu, euch etwas zur Wolle zu erzählen, welches sich mehrfach gewünscht wurde 💕 Die Wolle ist für mich eine echte Neuentdeckung, obwohl es keine neue Qualität ist. Die Loch Lomond ist ein rustikales Tweedwollgarn, welches eine GOTs Zertifizierung hat. Obwohl ich es als rustikal bezeichne, finde ich es ist unfassbar weich. Natürlich nicht mit einer Alpaka Wolle vergleichbar 🙌 Nach der Wäsche entfaltet es sich noch mal richtig! Der absolute Pluspunkt ist auch, dass es eine GOTs Zertifizierung hat. Das ist eine der höchsten Standards im Textilbereich 🙏 Hierzu hat auch schon mehrfach @lisbethsknits in ihrem Podcast berichtet und @alexstrickt hat auch eine ganze Folge über BC Garn, Kremke und Co. aufgenommen und darüber berichtet.
