It's called A Desi Journey and it visits my introduction to South Asian music from the UK - a socially significant, beautiful and illuminating album from Nitin Sawhney. It's name is Beyond Skin and I love it. The track you hear is called Pilgrim. When I first heard the album, I was a young White guy from London, struggling to work out who he was in a world of war, privilege, inequality and misdirection. Only, I didn't know it yet. I was in love with music, mountains, movement and I was making the most of my opportunities to explore them all. Along with Beyond Skin, Talvin Singh's Anokha: Soundz from the Asian Underground, his subsequent two albums and two more from Badmarsh and Shri used to feature in my climbing trips.
