One of the faces of the the Boa Island Statues. Carved long before Christianity arrived in Ireland, the two statues are both double sided with a different face on the other side. Arriving at Caldragh Graveyard after dark I had to pick out the features by torchlight. The larger of the two statues acts as a bullaun stone and collects water in the head (believed to have healing properties). I'm getting into bed tonight feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude after the most idyllic and refreshing stay in @mullansbay 🥹 I've struggled alot recently with trying to juggle everything, from working very long hours running my own business, to keeping this travel page ticking over, creating and designing a monthly e-magazine, family life, spending enough time with the kids... it's so hard to find the right balance, and it can feel like you're drowning sometimes. This escape to Mullans Bay was exactly what I needed, and it couldn't have come at a better time 🥲 When we checked into the Lakeside Lodge on Wednesday, we were greeted by the owner Adrian in the lashings of rain, he met us with a smile and a loaf of the most delicious freshly baked brown bread, he showed us around our lodge and couldn't have been more welcoming. I stood soaking in the views of Lough Erne through the glass panel and patio doors at the back of our lodge and instantly felt the stress and worry begin to fade away. We slowed down completely during our stay. We enjoyed walks along the lake, evenings in the hot tub, we played games and just enjoyed each others company away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
