One last selfie for the road… It’s nice to get away from the hectic schedule I created for myself @lionheartconfections but I expect nothing less of myself. But now that I’m older and presumably wiser, I know when my mental health needs to come first. From growing pains to running late to fryer issues, sometimes it’s better to step away for a minute and just regroup. No one ever said starting a business was easy. I did it in a pandemic out of survival and passion of my craft. Visiting Philadelphia and Pittsburgh recharged my heart. I remember what it was like to enjoy the small things. To drink more wine with friends. To enjoy art as often as possible. To take risks because at the end of the day, I will be the only person I can rely on. Traveling solo reminded me that partnership is great but it’s also great to be self reliant. If a problem arose, I had to remember I wasn’t a kid anymore. I had to make the hard calls. To have the difficult conversations. To fight for what I needed in life. Being an adult will always be weird. I look in the mirror and count my grays. It’s like a badge of honor at this point. Each one earned and representing a different milestone. But I can safely say looking at myself after this weekend, I’m reminded that I’m still full of life and energy. Burn out is real. Depression is real. Cutting out toxic people in your life to further your dream is real. All realizations I was reminded of this past week. I leave Philly and Pittsburgh with more questions than answers. But such as life. I know at the end of the day, I will be ok. I have to be. Boston is calling and they demand more doughnuts, so time to get back to work. Growing up we’d always play “tak-a-tuk” on Easter. We would all go around and choose whichever colored egg we thought was the strongest then pair up and hit the opponent’s egg with ours.
