Picked up this nice little 5th growth on a whim in Paris and while I ended up overpaying a bit it delivered 🍷🍇 it is arguably in its infancy still, and probably needed a few more years to shine, but it was very enjoyable. First impressions were of a young wine with grippy tannins, a fair bit of new oak but not enough to throw the balance off. This gave way to notes of anise seed, liquorice, herbaceous notes, olive tapenade and blackcurrants. The finish was decently long and classic Bordeaux, consistent with what I expect from a high quality wine as a fifth growth ought to be, yet still not quite as refined and delicate as some of its fellow fifth growth competitors.

What an epic evening in Singapore with my dearest friend @les_amoureuses_27, very happy to meet you there my buddy. Lovely place as well, my first time going to the Pall Mall. The place is just beautiful and has good wine selection. I decided to go with this Paul Pillot GR 2017, an estate I particularly like. Classic touch of reduction at the beginning. The wine is actually a little more closed than Clos Saint Jean that I had some time ago. Lovely array of white fruits, juicy with good purity. The wine will evolve quite a lot during the tasting. It had some more creamy phases, almost bit lactic, and more mineral and fruit oriented moments. The palate is rather straight, slightly waxy, with intense mineral background and a slightly toasted profile. Good depth. Full of energy with a nice kick from the acidity. I think it might be a little early for this terroir. Grande Montagne and Clos Saint Jean are maybe more accessible young. Or simply that after several years of good pleasure, 2017 is going to a dormant phase. It remains fresh and totally suited for longer aging though. Cheers Josh, see you soon! I will preview a gem that will soon be added to my champagne selection. Therefore, I would like to introduce Ambonnay's Paul D é thune Champagne to you. The small estate covering an area of 7 hectares is grown organically. They are one of the most meticulous and meticulous winemakers in the region, and I am proud to be the only winery in France to offer these wines. The use of 205 liters of champagne provides a substance for its different cuv é es, and this richness is particularly suitable for the smoothness of Ambonnay's great terroir. This Brute Extra is their "entry-level" and I assure you, it is very convincing. 70% Pinot Noir mixed with 30% Chardonnay and 50% 40 year old reserve wine! This is a champagne that expresses the unique characteristics of its village, but its freshness brings a crisp side. Starting with an aperitif, he would feel at home, but the most delicious dishes would make him feel honored, such as a beautiful Iberian pork rib, a mushroom pie with a slice of fried foie gras or other guinea pigs and his chicken sauce, stewed veal bread...
