Here it is- The first REAL oil piece that I’ve actually spent a nice bit of time on! I call it Highway to The Sky. It’s small in size but mighty- gives a nice punch with the vibrant colors but doesn’t overtake an atmosphere due to the smaller size. Since there will be need of drying time, it will have to stay around for a little while. BOULDER ART ASSOCIATION PRESENTS BOULDER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS EXHIBITION TITLE: DREAMS Where: Cafe Aion When: APR 15th - MAY 20th 2024 The Boulder Art Association and the artist Jeno are excited to present an inspiring exhibition titled “Dreams,” featuring talented students from Boulder High School at Cafe Aion from April 15th to May 20th, 2024. “Dreams” brings together a wonderful and diverse collection of artworks created by Boulder High School students. Each student chose their own area of focus when considering different facets of “Dreams”—expressing literal interpretations alongside aspirational dreams of future possibilities. Each piece invites viewers to engage and find personal meanings within the artworks. The students have created “Dreams” in a wide range of mediums utilizing oil paints, acrylics, mixed media, and digital media while also experimenting with color palettes, value scales, contrast and lighting. This showcase not only highlights the students’ technical skills but also their creative capacities to express complex themes through visual art. An artists reception will be held on Friday, May 3rd from 6-7pm. Today, we're featuring Natalie Thedford: "I translate fiber craft aesthetics and textile manipulation techniques into other materials that are not associated with those traditions. With the guidance of the handcraft techniques that I learned from my grandmother, I create highly textured surfaces, which, though orderly in one sense, contain enough variability to implicate the slow work of hands as opposed to machines.
