The difference in the landscape; natural and man made is stark. Long gone are the 1000s of leaves that were left there years untouched replaced my wild growth of the grass and nettles. The once clean building has now become a canvas for graffiti art and even the surrounding area out the frame has changed significantly. *Throwback photo* Taken in 2012 Yes. Once upon a time, I spent many, many hours/days inside a studio on the 5th floor of the Milwaukee Area Technical College exploring and experimenting with different light types, its color characteristics, an different techniques for achieving a color-corrected output in tricky situations. Here, we have a studio still life of three classic floating @rapala lures. This was definitely a tough one. We have shiny surfaces; elements of white on white; multiple objects of different shades on said white material (major color cast issues - out of the camera, the white surface appeared slightly red/pink due to the orange while the shadows appeared somewhat cyan/magenta). There are things I would go back and do differently with this image - add cream to the coffee with a neat design. Spend way more time and attention, modifying the way the light interacts with the fork ( maybe one more small soft box and a lot of carefully placed black strips). The composition could possibly be tweaked, too. But overall, I was happy with what I learned and the results I produced, considering I had only started messing with studio lights a year before. I chose this subject matter because no single lure had a greater impact on me as a fisher than this lure. Ever since I first watched @babewinkelman work this lure over bass in his "Fishing Secrets: Spring Fishing - Cure for Cabin Fever" vhs as a kid (2nd or 3rd grade). The way Babe would glide and pause the lure, waiting for a big mouth to come up from underneath to inhale it. Then, WHAM! A big boil and the fight was on. I just had to get my hands on one and learn everything about it. Since then, I've caught everything on this lure. Seven inch pond bass in the middle of Milwaukee, WI to forty-plus inch wild Alaskan Northern Pike, this lure does it all.
