‘BROADWAY’ Artist: @kishinayyar Broadway, unfolds as a captivating exploration into the intricate world of artists, delving deep into the fascinating workings of their creative minds. In a world where the artist often takes a backseat to their creations, each artwork becomes a vessel containing a piece of the artist’s essence. I named this project “Broadway” with the explicit intent to cast a radiant spotlight on artists, showcasing them alongside their art in a manner reminiscent of a theatrical performance. What sets an artist apart is not just their skill in crafting art but the captivating personality that often remains obscured in the conventional art world. The difference between being drawn to the art first and then developing curiosity about the artist, or vice versa, serves as the central intrigue of Broadway. FADE INTO LIGHT 10 | PHOTOGRAM | Framed archival photographic print mounted on aluminium Edition 12 DM for details. *Note - A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. The usual result is a negative shadow image that shows variations in tone that depends upon the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey. Some of the first photographic images made were photogram's. William Henry Fox Talbot called these photogenic drawings, which he made by placing leaves and pieces of material onto sensitized paper.

Featuring a selection of Dorothy Bohm’s most beloved images alongside recently unearthed gems, this exhibition offers a journey through cities immortalised by Bohm’s lens, showcasing the breadth of her practice and her empathy for the human condition. Born into a Jewish family in East Prussia, Dorothy Bohm’s life was profoundly shaped by the rise of Nazism. Sent to the safety of England in 1939, she endured more than two decades of separation from her parents and sister. The impact of war and dislocation deeply influenced her photographic approach, which displays a fascination with people from all walks of life, particularly women and children. Far from being intimidated by the then male-dominated field of photography, Bohm noted, “subjects are less threatened by a woman, so it is easier for me to approach them without seeming intimidating.
