🌅Sunsets. I love trying to capture a sunset, and how the colours and intensities change depending on where you are in the world, and what time of year it is. My favourite sunset was whilst sitting on a boat in the middle of the Albufera Natural Park in Valencia, Spain (swipe to see colour inspo from that magical sunset). Mr R’s favourite is from Ibiza. His memories inspired this print of Ibiza, bringing in all the hypnotising sunset colours - glowy reds, oranges and yellows recreating the feel of the warmth of the setting sun. Hello September! I’m guessing most of us have closed the chapter on summer and have spun through the portal back into the routine of daily life. For me that means I’ve returned to my schedule in the studio. First thing first on my agenda— paint the giant flowers that have been in my mind all August. I’m infusing them with inspiration from the colors of Kelly, the light of O’Keefe, the cut-out nonchalance of Matisse and the joy that comes from thinking about someone I truly love. This is the first one I want to share with you and will pour out more over the next couple of weeks. I hope you are off to a good start this September. Drop me a comment! I wanted to paint a big messy bouquet and I had this square frame that I have literally held on to since my college roommate scored it from her job working the returns counter at Marshall’s. I’m very very old so that was something like one hundred years ago. I’m glad I hung onto it though, bc it actually was perfect for this blobby bunch of flowers, even tho I annoyingly decided to add a quilt pattern background bc I can’t let anything be.

This dress + these shoes 😍🧡🧡 I always list my outfit details below and tag them in the photo as well. And I highly encourage you all to explore the brands that I tag. I don’t really talk about it on here, because I feel like I still have a lot more homework to do, but I have branched out into Sustainable Fashion and Slow Fashion. Nowadays, before I purchase a clothing item, I need to know the following; 1) WHO made the clothes? Were these people paid a livable wage or were they exploited? 2) WHERE were my clothes made? 3) WHAT are my clothes made with? Are they made with toxic dyes that are harmful to the environment? You can usually find this information on a brand’s “About us” page where they describe their mission and their ethics. If this information is not listed, then you can always send them an email and ask about their efforts towards sustainable fashion. I have done that before. In the past, I used to make the excuse that I couldn’t afford sustainably made clothing (because it can be quite expensive). But once I started buying designer clothing, then I could no longer make excuses. I had to start owning up to my environmental responsibility. If you’re financially able to do so,then I encourage you to look into sustainably made clothing as well. If you’re not there yet, then try curating a timeless wardrobe instead of buying short-term use pieces. When you buy an item, think about if you can see yourself wearing that item for 5-10 more years. This is how I shop. And one thing I had to realize when curating a “timeless wardrobe” is that timeless is different for everyone. I used to think of timeless pieces as neutral colored pieces. You don’t have to limit yourself to this kind of thinking!!!!!!! My timeless will always be colorful because “this isn’t a phase mom!” Lol! So take time to discover what YOUR timeless looks like.
