VINTAGE MAKEOVER for a WORTHY CAUSE! This vintage Chest of Drawers has been given a makeover for the “Hats Off DERBY BRUNCH” on April 27th at the Guyan Golf and Country Club. This piece was made by the Elkin Furniture Company in Elkin, NC, and sold through Whitton Furn Co in Ashland, KY. (I wish I knew the year it was made!) I purchased this already primed with no knobs and have been saving it for such a time as this! In honor of the Derby I chose this rice paper called “Gentle Friends” and framed it with ornate pieces I made from moulds. This is navy and gold and a true custom one-of-a-kind‼️🥰 This piece will be auctioned at the luncheon with all proceeds going to The Golden Girls Group Home.

Can’t contain holding off posting this any longer! I was gifted a 3D printed Mothra set to paint but I added my own flair to it. The Mothra Larvae is NOT my sculpt work but I painted it. What IS my sculpt work however, is the rock formation Mothra is perched on. I sculpted the rocks and Mothra symbol, crafted the palm trees using toothpicks with clay around them to sculpt the bark texture and used green felt for the palm fronds, then I added model kit moss for the grassy bits on the rocks. The Mothra adult and cocoon that are part of the set will be finished soon! A macaron is a sandwich cookie, made of meringue, with a filling in the middle. My macarons do not have a tasty edible filling. In fact, no part of my macarons are edible. Tho it dries fast, a bit of water helps to prolong the working time. It is a bit fragile with thin details like stand alone hair. It resemble polymer clay when working details but to get the same smoothness, you might need to sand some parts when dry. It is very light weight and easy to paint. You can actually bake it too if you want to dry it faster. Other wise, depending on the thickness, it can take one to 3 days to dry. So you have to manage your time well. Obviously, I’m not an expert with this clay but overall, it’s pretty nice and will work with it again. Let me know what you think of this clay! Have you tried it?
