Our lives seemingly revolve around our phones. It’s easy to be completely drawn into this device and lose track of what is going on around us. In a defensive mindset we call this the White zone. But when you’re in a crowd, it’s a good idea to get out of the white zone. Put the phone down for a moment and get a sense of who is around you. We look at people’s faces but also get in the habit to look at their hands and waistband. What are they carrying? Are they hiding their hands? The hands are where very real threats come from. If you absolutely must use your phone, get your back against a wall or solid object. Attackers look for easy targets. Standing in the open with your attention in the phone makes you a more desirable target than someone against a wall watching who is around. In the modern world it is impossible to avoid the phone, but we can avoid making ourselves easy prey. #whitezone #defensivemindset #dontbeavictim
