Disney Dream 🚢 This ship is so gorgeous and the cast members are so much fun hyping us up even more as we boarded the ship! They will announce your family’s name as you arrive into the main lobby it’s such a special moment. Then off to lunch and exploring! Vanellopes sweets and treats shop onboard is bright and colorful and has so many yummy options! (If you have any room left after all the free soft serve on the pool deck!) One of the biggest highlights of these ships for us is the Oceaneers club for kids. (They have clubs for teens also.) The design details in these spaces are absolutely incredible and they have games and fun things for kids can choose to do every day. My kids make friends in there and have the best time ever! People on Disney cruises often like to customize their magnetic state room door with magnets and decorations. It is such a fun way to participate in the cruise (and really helps with finding your room faster too!) I love seeing people’s creativity with this. The Disney Dream in Bermuda 🇧🇲 This was our first time visiting Bermuda! We originally had plans to explore more, but ended up spending more time on the ship. Being on the ship just made changing diapers and feeding the baby so simple, and after a few somewhat sleepless nights (due to some teeth popping in), we decided just to relax a little more. Finally it was time to go to the ship. I pre booked a taxi with Radio Cabs Southampton. It cost £10. For my cruise, the terminal was changed to Queen Elizabeth II Terminal, Dock Gate 4. On the day before the cruise I did Walk The Secrets of Titanic Tour with Walsh Tours. This is a 2 hour walk through the old town of Southampton, visiting many of the Titanic memorials and places connected to the Titanic Crew. I paid £16 and is something I highly recommend. Bryan was hugely knowledgeable about not only Titanic but Southampton local history. The only thing I would note before booking this tour is that the actual quay / pier where Titanic docked is not accessible to the general public. Titanic was at Berth 44, which is still The White Star Line pier. Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics uses that Berth for their cargo ships. Berth 44 is opposite Ocean Cruise Terminal, so you either need to be departing from Ocean Cruise Terminal or Queen Elizabeth II Terminal to see the actual place where Titanic was moored. Titanic Memorial Fountain, Holyrood Church, Southampton The fountain is dedicated to the firemen, stewards and crew that came from Southampton, and was paid for by the family and friends of the crew. It is a drinking fountain made of Portland Stone by local stonemasons Garret and Haysom of East Street, Southampton. It was unveiled in 1915 by Mr. Bullions Moody, Treasurer of the Titanic Relief Fund. ANOTHER CHAIR??? So first things first. I could have sworn that I had already shared a picture of Sophie in this chair… I captioned the fact that I didn’t spot the mosaic behind the chair. Then yesterday, looking at my pictures, I realised that previous chair was blue and the mosaic was in a different place. This one is clearly red. I genuinely do not remember there being two different chairs like this 🤯. I’m assuming they were on either side of the atrium but can anyone confirm? Anyways, these were taken on our last morning aboard. Scroll across and you will also see Sophie’s sad face about the fact our voyage was almost over. She was none to pleased about the fact it was coming to an end but she did a lot better than last time (where the meltdown lasted all the way home!) WEIRD PICTURES Anyone else take weird pictures that really wouldn’t mean very much to anyone else but you? When on a Disney trip (but not so much when we go anywhere else) I like to take a picture of the room number. Don’t ask me why but I like having the ‘memory’ of which room we stayed in at whatever resort it was. That’s a bit weird right? Does anyone else like to remember the room number or take pictures? Anyways, the room numbers, or more to the point, the stateroom numbers aboard a Disney Cruise are actually really cool. Designed to resemble a porthole with a compass graphic I just think these plaques are awesome. Disney really didnt need to go to this level for something as ‘simple’ as a room number but once again, the detail IS the Disney difference. I’m a little bit obsessed with the design of these. I also chucked in a picture of the hook outside the door. In our case a fish. We learned on the imagineering tour that they specifically used fish and seahorses for the staterooms. Fish are used along the port or left side of the ship because fish has four letters in it. Seahorses are used on the starboard or right side of the ship because they begin with the letter S. THE WALTER E. DISNEY SUITE The very kind occupants of suite 12002 were kind enough to host an open house of their very special suite on the Concierge Level. As known as a Royal Suite, it is the largest and most luxurious of any stateroom you can have aboard a Disney ship. Unlike most staterooms, this has a kitchen, a seperate full size master bedroom (with its very own ‘starry sky’ to fall asleep under) and master bathroom with full size bathtub, a dining and seating area, pull down ‘Murphy beds’ and a huge verandah with a private hot tub. The whole suite was just stunning and it was lovely to get a glimpse at. Of course, we had conversations about whether that level of space and comfort was actually needed for us, since we were barely in the room but as I kept saying, it’s all relative. If you are in the position to pay double-digit thousands for a suite (prices vary according to ship and itinerary) and have the most luxurious stay aboard, why not? Even with permission, I did feel a bit conscious walking round someone else’s suite snapping pictures but I got a few so scroll across. A massive thank you too for Lorraine & Giles who opened up their room for the super fans to come have a nose around. They didn’t have to, so it was very kind that they did. ~ Watching and Dreaming ~ In February 2007, the already well established @disneycruiseline had announced the commissioning of two new ships, set to build upon the success of Disney Magic and Disney Wonder who debuted with the line in the 90s. Today’s feature, Disney Dream, is one of those two ships. Her keel was laid in the prolific historic yard @meyerwerft on August 19th 2009, and within two years, the ship underwent her Maiden Voyage, setting sail out of Port Canaveral in Florida on January 26th 2011. An extensive vessel designed graciously and meticulously by both Meyer Werft and the Imagineers at Disney Cruise Line, boasting 14 passenger decks at a size 40% larger than that of her predecessors. She features a 9 hole mini-golf course, a walking track, digital sports simulators, a full-sized basketball court that can be converted for use as a soccer pitch, volleyball court, or football/table tennis area. There are also two smaller sport courts and two hangouts for younger children. And the cherry on top? The world’s first water coaster at sea, the AquaDuck (what an incredible pun!).
