Last July I was lucky enough to go on a Disney cruise for the first time. It was departing from Port Canaveral and was only for 3 nights but it stopped at Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas. When we docked I couldn’t believe the colour of the water! So bright turquoise and clear! Perfect for snorkeling. When you get off the ship they give you beach towels to use and there are a few photo ops and I even met Captain Jack Sparrow! You can then either walk (when it’s not too hot) or take a free tram to the family or adult only beach. First stop is the family beach and there is also the bbq restaurant there too (also free). There are enough sun beds and umbrellas on the beach for everyone, and at lunchtime head to Cookies for your bbq - there is plenty of seating. There are gift shops and little touristy shops along the path towards the adults only beach where you can buy beachwear and souvenirs. The adults only beach also has a bbq restaurant- Cookies 2! It does the same food but is slightly smaller than the main one. You can rent water sports equipment if you want to be active and there is an extra cost for this. On the tram back to the ship we did spot Mickey and Minnie in their own little golf buggy 😍 All in all it was a fantastic day and I would highly recommend a Disney cruise with a stop at Castaway Cay. Growing up I was everything but an adventurous soul. Even as a young adult, I was a bit of a Samwise Gamgee, and could say « if I take one more step, it’ll be the farthest away from home I’ve ever been » - well by my own initiative. The day I booked our first cruise, I was so nervous, it felt unreal, and deep down I couldn’t tell myself that this trip was really gonna happen, because I wasn’t a traveling person and didn’t know how to do this. But the trip did happen and was perfect in every way. Then we took another trip. And two more. We traveled three times to the US, to five US states (well we only visited three but still), two US Disney resorts, sailed in Europe, Alaska, the Caribbean and Bahamas onboard four different ships, and when looking back at these memories I feel so thankful. Going on a Disney trip might not be the boldest move out of your comfort zone, but traveling with my 10 year younger sister the first time, planning and checking all these very new things, felt scary then I can tell you. I know I want to explore more destinations in the future, but I’m glad Disney is the reason I started, and these travels we went on with @onemozeoz and our friends are part of the best times of my life so far. I’m so excited to go on more adventures soon with @louisehuitre and share our love of Disney Cruise Line with her ❤️. Waking up at a different beautiful location every morning was definitely a highlight of our trip for the girls! This was the morning we arrived at Castaway Cay. What a gorgeous place! Our room was an extended family room with a veranda. We did the same for our next trip coming up. We chose the other side of the ship this time though just to see how the different views are. I’ll do more of a room tour next time to show you what that looks like. We can’t wait to be back!
