I’m so glad that I was 100% wrong about this year’s Food & Wine Festival in DCA at Disneyland. This was the first Disney food festival that I got to try every single non dessert food item and I will definitely be ranking them all in a future video. 9 lanyards later (thank you @the_disney_diva and @dearmrkenny for donating leftover tabs!) and I can honestly say there was only one item I got, out of 63 tabs, which was too gross to order again. I went to the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, which features unique food stands around the park! While you can order and pay for each item individually, the Sip and Savor Pass promises a convenient way to order. But is it cost-effective? Turns out, often NO! For $31, you can buy a 4-item pass, (which breaks down to $7.75 per item). The 8-item pass costs $61 ($7.63 per item). Yet many dishes cost LESS than $7.63. The cheapest Food & Wine item costs $7, while the priciest costs $9. The average price is $8.02, but only 55% of items cost more than $7.63. If you paid $61 for the 8-pack and spent each credit on one of the 6 items that cost $9, then you’d save $11 (or $1.4 per item). But that’s unlikely! Many of my favorite dishes costless than the $7.63 breakeven threshold, including this Blueberry Pancake Cold Brew for $7.25 (Photo 1). My advice? Only buy the Sip and Savor Pass if you know you’ll use every credit on $9 items (or at least $7.75+ items). For all the other tasty treats, just pay cash! As for me, I bought the 4-item pack ($7.75 per item), which I redeemed for: BBQ Beef Brisket Slider ($9), pictured in Photo 2 Cheeseburger Bao ($8.50), pictured in Photo 2 Two orders of Grilled Top Sirloin ($9 each). Out of pocket, that would have cost $35.5, so I saved $4.50 with my Sip and Savor Pass. I paid cash for 2 more items: the $7.25 cold brew and $7.75 Mickey Macaron (Photo 3). Had I bought the 8-pack, I would have lost money on the cold brew, only broke even on the macaron, and then stressed about redeeming the 2 more items on something I wasn’t hungry for. Tl;dr, don’t assume the Sip and Savor Pass is automatically a better deal! 🍇Here’s my rest of the fest! . 🥓Pork Belly from LA Style 7.5/10. The pork belly itself wasn’t quite as tender as in year’s prior, but I really liked the spice blend. The dish was more Mexican-inspired than Hawaiian-inspired, and the elote mac salad was a welcome twist. Definitely worth it, but not incredible. . 🍵Fig Matcha Latte from Goldeb Dreams 8.5/10. This was very clean tasting, the fig is quite subtle. Not the best matcha I’ve ever had but definitely a nice change of pace in the theme park. . 🥃Frozen Old Fashioned from Golden Dreams 8.5/10. Easily the best of the paletas that they’ve made for the festival. Intriguing, complex, but still decidedly ice cream. Get this! . 🍊Huckleberry Citrus Cooler from D-Lish 9/10. Super refreshing, great for breakfast. No discernible huckleberry but I didn’t actually mind that. . 🍫Snickers Mickey Macaron from Nuts About Cheese 100/10. We spent a few hours at DCA this afternoon to check out some of the Food and Wine Festival offerings. Here’s what we ate today: Carbonara Garlic Mac & Cheese featuring Nueske’s Peppered Bacon - underwhelming we gave it a 5/10 Grilled Top Sirloin with roasted garlic-gruyère smashed potatoes and black garlic chimichurri - 🤦🏻♀️ beef was on the tough side and had much more oil than we would have liked. Another 5/10 Carnitas-style Pork Belly with esquites corn mac salad featuring Tajín Habanero (New) - 8/10! The pork belly was super tender and the corn mac salad was an interesting combo that worked pretty well and had a nice kick to it IMPOSSIBLE Beef Stroganoff: Egg noodles tossed in a mushroom cream sauce with IMPOSSIBLE beef and sour cream - 7/10. This was pretty good, actually. The flavor was fairly mild. We’ve also always wanted to try the Beef Birria Ramen in San Fransokyo. So we shared an order. While it was good, I wouldn’t order it again. I’d lean more toward the Birria Tacos from Cocina Cucamunga or (when they have it) the Birria Grilled Cheese Sandwich from Jolly Holiday. Hi friends! I had so much fun experiencing the food and drinks at Disney California Adventure’s Food & Wine Festival 2024! These are just drinks that I was looking forward to and my own honest,opinion about the drinks I tried 😂 Guava-Lychee Mule $17 ⭐️ 1000/10 This was definitely my top and favorite drink that I tried. The funny thing is that it’s a vodka based cocktail and I am not a fan of vodka. It literally tasted like juice. The guava and lychee flavors complemented each other. The drink was topped off with a lemon slice. I squeezed a little lemon juice on top to give it a little acidity. YUM 🤤 I would drink this all day if I could. You may order this drink at Garlic Kissed. Cantarito-Style Paloma $17 ⭐️ 7.5/10 I love tequila, and this is a tequila base drink. The pineapple juice was infused with habanero pepper, which gave the drink a little spicy. It’s topped off with a pineapple slice and tajin. Although I love spicy, I thought this drink was too spicy for me and unfortunately I could NOT finish it. It started off great and it kept getting spicier as I was drinking it. You may order this drink at Peppers Cali-ente. Tangerine Tiki Cocktail $17 ⭐️ 7.5/10 Dark rum base drink with vanilla liqueur and honey syrup. It tasted good, but it was just too sweet for me. It definitely looks pretty in pictures tho! You may order this drink at Cluck-a-Doodle-Moo. Watermelon Cucumber Mojito $17 ⭐️ 11/10 Maybe an exaggeration, BUT this was one of my favorite drinks at the food and wine festival. It contains white rum with watermelon liqueur and topped with a rectangular watermelon slice dipped in tajin. It tastes like a watermelon jolly rancher and I drank half of it before I shared it 😂. You may order this drink at Earth Eats. There are definitely more drinks at the festival that I didn’t have the chance to try, but I did my research before my trip and knew which drinks I wanted to try. I found this picture of my my family’s first trip to @Disneyland. I remember that day like it was yesterday. We were still living in Oaxaca but came to visit my dad who was trying to make a life here for us. I was not only happy to see my dad again, but happy my dreams of visiting Disney were finally coming true. I distinctly remember feeling something inside me, I couldn’t describe it then…but being back this past weekend as a guest chef on that stage, I felt it again —I simply believed.. yes,I believed, maybe in magic?— This world is crazy and wild and sometimes not so nice, but believing in ones mission and self is the most powerful thing we can do. Today and always, I will chose to believe… because If an immigrant little girl from Oaxaca can end up at the @Disneyland #FoodandWine Stage to make mole, then anything is possible. Magic is real, don’t ever let anyone else tell you otherwise. Thank you to the entire #DisneyFoodandWine team for bringing the most joy to my inner little girl this past weekend and treating me and my family like royalty. I was a little worried but after having some of the options, I see we're going for QUALITY and larger portion size this year.
