Read and Seek As I mentioned in a previous posts; Read and seek books stimulates the child's brain as they evaluate and determine things out of place, and how I started off narrating the illustrations, then identifying different things in illustrations. When that happens, it enhances the child’s VOCABULARY. As we identify different things in the illustrations, the child is learning new words. Using the example from my previous post. If the child already knows the word ball, then here is the opportunity to talk about different balls, and or the shape or colors of the balls. I started off narrating the illustrations, then identifying different things in illustrations. I would just describe what was going on. Focusing on things he could relate to or was already familiar with. Similar to how you may read a “My First 100 Words Books” The first round may be “I see a ball, This is a ball” Meanwhile I’m pointing at the ball. Having him point and say Ball too. Then when narrating “I see a boy playing with the ball” when that may or may not be a part of the story. We did this for all types of books because of the different levels of complicity in the illustrations. Read and seek books offers the same. With their ability to promote conversation with the child as they read together. Especially when starting off at an early age creating a bond through communication as they begin to recognize the objects in the pictures. My 3rd born and last child. Most people know I love kids and must be why I decided to have another child in my 40's. Deron, we call him DJ, surprises me all the time.
