It’s release day for SOL, a tank in celebration of summer solstice. I had the pleasure of test knitting SOL and @jacquelinecieslak has done it again with this tank, which features simple construction, thoughtful details, and an asymmetrical lace panel. It evokes memories of bonfires along fjords, reading aloud late into the night, and eating orange sherbet on a screened-in porch. ☀️ I knit size 2, full length, with no modifications; there is 1.5” of ease at the bust. It took about a skein and a quarter of @echoviewfibermill Lapidary, a wool/tencel blend. The yarn has lovely drape and stitch definition, and a nice sheen. ☀️ Jacqui’s patterns are size inclusive and her test knitting groups reflect this beautifully. The group and this test knit helped me feel a bit more connected to the outside world during my covid recovery. Clothing is political. Knitting is political. Black lives matter. Keep fighting and buy two books by Black writers from your local bookstore this week - Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi is excellent. Day 21 of #memademay2020 and it’s still raining. I’m getting a bit tired of this gloomy weather. I made these Arenite pants last summer at a class @downtown_knits I recently realized that I don’t wear them very often because the cuff was too tight. So last week I unpicked it, took out the elastic and put in a much looser piece. I like them much better now.
