As a small cottage business it’s not a ‘happy dance’ sort of day when I have to cancel orders 😢 I wear you down, over time, with beautiful visions of my devotion for hemp & dreamy sustainable plant eco dye creations, & just as you order your bedlinen dream, I have to cancel them. Any number of sharp tools can then be used to mark the black surface and reveal the white underneath. I love this medium because the dramatic black of the background can make even ordinary subjects look extraordinary with the right lighting. I remember meeting the excavator guy on-site to talk about where we wanted to cut etc and he was letting me know how wet the land was so it needed to be slashed before cutting. Kere Baker @redolivestudios is a New Zealand born Artist from Sydney, who works In abstract form. Kere’s leap to art came from an extensive background in design and colour, and was a way to communicate to the connection between the two. Currently her work delves more into the monochromatic, exploring form and negative space, using texture and tone to ultimately communicate contrast of shapes and form. There is a strong focus on the feminine in her line work, and nostalgic references to her background in tribal arts.
