One of the main reasons I feel in love with #Toronto is it’s amazing variety of food and cultures. There’s a cuisine type to appease every whim and want. One such example is @kiintoronto I’ve had the pleasure of eating at @chefnuitregular wonderful establishment and still have fond memories (and pangs!) for her amazing dishes- not least of all the Roy Thai dumpling selection! Feels like it’s been a while since I reviewed a restaurant and posted it here. Makes sense. I think I got tired of reviewing places we’ve been to already. Today was the first time we tried this restaurant, Hong Kong Gardens. We saw it while we were in the Etobicoke area last week and made a mission to try it today. The restaurant seems to be old, like something from the early 90’s or late 80’s. I liked it. We tried their egg drop and mushroom soup, mabo tofu (ma po tofu), BBQ pork fried rice and fried squid 🦑. Everything was pretty good. I was impressed. The squid was my favourite. Something in the powder coating mix was just so tantalizing. Their fried rice was also delicious. Most Chinese restaurants we go to or get takeout from in the city have similar tasting fried rice - but this place tasted different - and different is good. Definitely hitting up this restaurant again some day.
