🇬🇧 Strolling through Prague streets - Nový Svět - vol. 323. Close your eyes and imagine... The year is 1923. The sun lazily weaves its way through the picturesque houses of Prague's Nový Svět. The sidewalks are lined with tables and chairs, where neighbors chat and catch up. Clotheslines strung between the houses hold laundry gently swaying in the breeze. Children's laughter and barking dogs can be heard. This is what Nový Svět was like during the Czechoslovakian so called First Republic (1918 - 1938). The atmosphere was so reminiscent of Naples that the place was nicknamed "Prague's Naples". And I can't blame them! . . 🇨🇿 Toulání se ulicemi Prahy - Nový Svět - díl 323. Zavřete oči a představte si... Rok 1923. Slunce se líně proplétá mezi malebnými domky Nového Světa. Chodníky lemují stolky a židle, na kterých si povídají sousedé. Mezi domy se táhnou šňůry s prádlem, které se pomalu pohupují ve větru. Zní dětský smích a štěkot psů. Právě takový byl Nový Svět v dobách první republiky. Atmosféra tak připomínala Neapol, že se tomuto místu přezdívalo "pražská Neapol". Was randomly thinking the other day about the worst gigs my old satellite dishes have ever been privy to the other day. After some deep diving of the brain-based HDD I reckon I’d have to go with (all at the Birmingham Academy as it was back in’t day - the good one, not the mobile network sponsored one): • Spiritualised - the Benzodiazepine of live gigs 🥱 Suddenly that whole medication blister pack thing for Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating Space made a whole lotta sense 💤 • The Vines - managed about 20 mins of out of key bellowing/grunting (and not in a by design [x] metal way) before I had to pop off to the Arches & enjoy the super rare McSteak instead (that was pants too). The very next day, the NME proclaimed it the best gig Brum had ever seen. So I stopped buying that too • T*ploader - so heinous, I still can’t type their name after 20 something years. It was a free ticket and I still asked for my money back.
