~ Hydrangea Harvest ~ . These beauties are the first I've cut this year as I don't want to stress the plants anymore than they have been this past few weeks with the heatwave . I have dreams of swathes of hydrangeas in border after border in my forever garden (whenever we find it!) But for now I have my huge plants in giant pots and planters sunk into the borders in my current garden so I can take them with me . I have grown them from cuttings and saved them from sales at garden centres and I cannot pass up the opportunity to add more to the collection when I get the chance! . Thought I’d re-share this babe (@alicecox1 AND the gorgeous floral install behind her!) as she was getting some major love on my stories yesterday. 🥰 🌿 Statement pieces like this “broken arch” are STUNNING for creating a focal point for your ceremony 🤩 which is IDEAL if your venue has a blank wall like the summerhouse at @garthmylhall. 🌿 Depending on the size of the installation and the distances involved (i.e. if your ceremony and reception are at the same venue) they *might* be able to be moved to your reception space, but it’s worth asking your florist about this during your consultation. ❗️ Don’t forget, if you would like your florist to stay and move pieces around please do expect to pay them for their time. ❌ No roses, no problem! Roses are a go to for lots of wedding work (and why not?! They’re gorgeous!) but they’re not for everyone! K wanted something different: a fresh white garden style bouquet but without the traditional big blousy roses for a more relaxed vibe. This weeks Friday Flowers are my crocus and tête-à-tête’s in this old cast iron pan. The pan was left behind by the previous owners and last year we drilled some drainage holes in the bottom to turn it into a planter. It tends to move around to different areas of the garden depending g what’s in it and at the moment it’s sat by the back door to be admired every time I leave or enter the house! . Anyone else loving purple and yellow this year or is it just me? . Foraged & Found Bouquet I made this bouquet at the beginning of lockdown and it has given a welcome home to some (of the many!) bits and pieces that I collected last summer for drying; left overs stems, snips from the garden and foraged treasurers. Seed heads, gypsophila and pampas to name a few! (Oh and some smoke bush, which I preserved with glycerine! 💁♀️)
And so the dead heading begins... This trailing rose has soo many flowers that when it’s in full bloom it can take up to an hour EACH DAY to deadhead! 😐 But I don’t mind too much because I love using the petals to make natural confetti! And watching the gorgeous raspberry ripple deepen into simply stunning sunset colours! Dreamy!! 😍

- Bridesmaid Bouquets - Since the start of lockdown I’ve been trying to create designs with bits and bobs from the garden. 🌿 When I started I didn’t really think there would be much difference in content from one week to another. ... But actually, it’s been really interesting to see blooms coming and going out of season in a relatively short time. (Although it might feel like we’ve been at home for forever!) This week I have allllll the 💜: aquilegia, Spanish bluebells and butterfly lavender! (Plus a couple of tulips from @littleandwildflowers 😘) So I made this cute little bridesmaid bouquet. Finished off with a duck egg hessian ribbon for a rustic, relaxed feel. Buttonholes. I am LOVING bunny tail grass at the moment! They add such a gorgeous texture to designs and are sooo freaking cute!! They work perfectly in anything from bridal bouquets to buttonholes to centrepieces and really encapsulate the modern boho style! I used them in this buttonhole alongside dried dahlias, gypsophila, nigella seed pods and bracken. Oh and a fresh heuchera leaf sneaked itself in their too!! The Dahlias are out of my garden that I dried last autumn as an experiment... and look how gorgeous they turned out!! When I decided to make a dried buttonhole to go with the bouquet I made earlier this week (see previous post!), what else could I choose! 😍
