This past week, I visited my 40th temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Camping four days on the Little Thompson River in the mouth of the canyon that leads to Estes, Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park I found the drive to the Fort Collins temple a much more relaxed drive than to the Denver Colorado Temple from our RV park in Golden, Colorado. I'm not sure what I expected with the Fort Collins Temple but my spiritual and visceral experience was much grander than I anticipated. Fuel Your Torch - For youth in the Church with busy lives, it can be easy to get stuck in a rut of routine, especially with spiritual things. We read our scriptures, pray, and worship the same way almost every day and then wonder why we seem to be in a spiritual slump. One of the best ways to keep your spiritual torch burning brightly is to make sure you’re having meaningful spiritual experiences. But that is easier said than done, so here is a suggestion to help you continue to spiritually progress: Think of a gospel-related activity you’ve never done before (or hardly ever do) and commit to doing it every day for a month. You can start small because you’ll find that it’s easier to turn small changes into lasting ones. Doing things that take us out of our spiritual comfort zone might require more faith and effort on our part, but when we do them, we are inviting the Holy Ghost to be with us, and we are showing greater faith in Heavenly Father and a desire to draw nearer to Him. Here are a few ideas to get you started: * Make a goal to say your prayers morning and night. Try praying out loud. * Wake up 15 minutes early and read your scriptures before school. * Read past general conference talks. * Post a scripture from the Book of Mormon on social media. * Listen to hymns or Church music instead of your regular music. Sometimes we all get stuck in a rut. It's been hard for me to come up with new ideas lately. Today was not PDAY for me because my Sister missionary had transfers- instead I received an email from my girls Mission President that was sent to Ronnie but copied to the parents and her Bishop and Stake President. Letting Sister Efnor know that she has been called to be a Sister Training Leader. My heart is full during this birthday month for I have been blessed beyond measure with the things that matter most in this life. I dont talk about my mission probably as much as I should. But it's been 10 months since my return, and it has gone by so fast. Pure bliss engulfed me as I walked through the doors of the Fort Collins Colorado Temple. Hard work and dedication of so many people have made this possible. My mission changed me more than I even realize sometimes. I am forever grateful for my experience to serve the Lord. Until next time Colorado (and wyoming). Love you all!
