@rosasthai was fab as usual last night, can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try their Glasgow restaurant!🌶️ I had their veg & tofu pad kra prow and a side of spicy green beans which will definitely be getting added to my order every single time from now on! I wish there was the option to double up on the amount of tofu in their veg & tofu dishes though to make them a bit more filling.
Last thursday we were looking for a quick bit in the city centre and stumbled across @inoodle_glasgow98. A (not so hidded) wee gem in the city centre of Glasgow. It's a small and cozy chinese restaurant 🏮🥢, very simple and very homey. We had chicken chow mein and beef noodle soup, but the menù is so big and there's many many options! Both dishes were tasty and filling, the portions were massive too! There's extra spicy sauces on the side to add too 🌶️. It’s somewhere which has been on my list for a wee while - I somehow missed trying them out while they were in Hyndland but managed to drop by their ‘new’ shop last week. It’s takeaway only but ideal for anyone based near Central Station or getting the train! Honestly the coffee was outstanding😍!! I enjoyed it so much last week that I went back again this week. There’s two coffee blends to choose from - the medium roast and the dark roast. I went for the dark roast both times and got the white mocha and the dark mocha which were both really rich and decadent. There’s so many choices and combo’s - not only with the coffee blends but for each drink too. So for mocha’s and hot chocolate you can choose between milk, white, dark and Nutella flavour and there’s a good range of syrups for lattes too including butterscotch. I rant often of how we need to be more authentic on this app and stop telling lies, it comes off my tongue so easy all the time because it’s true! @allthingsedinburgh made a point the other day about things always looking too aesthetically pleasing and sometimes food just isn’t aesthetically pleasing and that’s so fine… ANYWAYS on the review.. Now I always feel when you order from a place takeaway you’re taking away the aesthetically pleasing vibe you want not always will you get what you imagine in your head in front of you when it arrives. I’ll be so honest with you guys when I opened the order I said to Aaron nah, sorry I’m not taking pictures of this, there ain’t no way. chips look like oven chips, cheap buns on the burgers (you know our burger standard is VERY high) lettuce on the topped fries whaaaat!!! HOWEVER the whole meal came to under 30 quid and we got free wings so I gave it a bash and surprisingly the chicken in the burger itself was SO GOOD the bun kinda broke away cause it was so soft but honestly a lesson never to judge a book by its cover. The donner wrap was the main event was still roasting when we got it extremely juicy and spicy and I would have been happy with just that. The loaded fries however kinda freaked me out. Under all that lettuce was potential peri chicken cheese and chips would have been enough the peri sauce was lovely I’m a saucy gal more of that less of the greens! Overall, for the price we paid, it was worth the money the chicken and wrap were really good. If you’ve been ANYWHERE on foodie insta this week you’ll have seen a new brunch place bursting onto the scene with @lagom_bakery_eatery opening its doors! On GWR this place is offering up a lovely menu of breakfast bagels, brunch bowls and CAKE. I had the brunch bowl with the well tested combination of harissa chickpeas, poachers, hummus, sumac, and baba ganoush. It was delightful, and that flavour combination is always gonna do well. My only slight complaint is that my poached eggs weren’t runny in the middle…but I still got over that and devoured the whole thing 🙈🙈🙈 The staff were friendly (despite their evident stress 😂) and the buzz about the place was fab. A lovely little bakery in Belfast 🥐 No trip is complete without a trip to a bakery for your morning coffee and pastry. We visited @bakari.bakery, a small bakery which offers a wide range of options! They had everything from croissants, to breads, to fully made sandwiches. We went for ✅ Morning bun ✅ Cinnamon Snoother ✅ Vanilla bread We thoroughly enjoyed each of these but personal favourites for us were the morning bun and the vanilla bread. 📍 Santa Lucia Pasta, Byres Rd 📸 Bruschetta & Sorrento Pasta So I've been to the Santa Lucia in the Merchant City and recently the Santa Lucia Deli which is also on Byres Rd and I really enjoyed both so I’ve been wanting to try their pasta restaurant for a while now. I finally went in and it was amazing!! 🥰🍝 I ordered two courses from the lunch menu (available 11.30-4pm Mon-Fri & 11.30-3pm Sat-Sun). I got the Bruschetta Al Pomodoro (sourdough bread with cherry tomatoes, evoo and basil) to start and the Sorrento pasta for my main (spaghetti with napoli sauce, cherry tomatoes, burrata and pesto). The food was so nice and the portion sizes were pretty generous too so it’s definitely good value for money - 2 courses is £14.90 at the weekend/ £12.90 during the week. (AD) The talk of the town this weekend seems to be the opening of @lagom_bakery_eatery on Great Western Road, and quite rightly so! This gorgeous new spot offers baked goods that are freshly made in-house, and brunch dishes that are a bit different to what I've seen at other places. I had a really tough time choosing what to order because everything sounded so interesting - swipe to check out the menu yourself. I ended up going for the toasted focaccia with baba ganoush, spinach, harissa roasted chickpeas, grilled halloumi, fried eggs and harissa oil. Mike had the brunch bowl with harissa roasted chickpeas, feta, hummus, baba ganoush, sumac dressing, poached eggs and toasted sourdough. There's a lot to unpack there, I know. All you need to know is that both of these were really fresh, tasty and generously portioned! And of course, even though we couldn't finish everything on our plates, we had no choice but to get something from the irresistible cakes cabinet! Again, everything looked amazing and it was a tough choice, but we settled on the praline gateau opera and strawberry tart. Their bakers really deserve a round of applause! I particularly loved the strawberry tart. I'd love to go back and try more of their menu, and I also can't wait until the weather is nicer to go grab some of their savoury bits to take away for a picnic! 📍 Big Bear Bakery, Dowanhill St 📸 Nutella Cookie Dough Croissant So last weekend I joined the @croissantrunclubglasgow for their West End run and we all went to @bigbearbakery afterwards for a post-workout treat. I got an iced latte and the (huge!!) nutella cookie dough croissant which was SO good especially after the run✨️!! Mój piękny tort, kwiatowy, delikatny, a w środku cała gama kolorów i smaków 🌸🌸🌸 Biszkopt kakaowy: 5 jajek 1/2 szkl cukru 3/4 szkl mąki pszennej 1/4 szklanki mąki ziemniaczanej 3 czubate łyżki ciemnego kakao Szklanka o poj 250ml Białka oddzielić od żółtek i ubić na sztywną pianę, następnie partiami po łyżce dodawać cukier a na końcu dodać żółtka. Przesiane mąki wraz z kakao dodać do masy i delikatnie wymieszać szpatułką. Piec około 35-40 min w 160 stopniach. Gorące ciasto wyjąć z piekarnika i z około 30 cm upuścić na blat, odstawić do wystygnięcia. Po wystudzeniu przekroić na 4 blaty Żelka: 500g mrożonych owoców - ja miałam jakiś mix różnych owoców bez malin więc nie przecierałam przez sito Cukier do smaku 3 łyżeczki żelatyny + 3 łyżeczki zimnej wody Owoce umieścić w rondelku i gotować aby ilość wody zredukowała się o połowę. Następnie pognieść widelcem na miększe kawałki. Żelatynę wymieszać z zimną wodą odstawić na chwile do napęcznienia. Połowę owoców przeznaczyć na żelkę a drugą połowę do kremu. Do pierwszej części owoców dodać żelatynę wymieszać (nie gotować). Okrągła foremkę wyłożyć folia spożywczą i przelać wystudzone owoce wstawić do lodówki najlepiej na cała noc. Należy pamiętać aby średnica żelki była mniejsza niż biszkoptu. Freddy and Hicks - Shawlands Ordered a burger from @freddyandhicks last weekend. I got the Chilli and Cheese Beef Burger, £10, and sweet potato fries, £4.50. It was a little greasy and v messy, just what you want from a good burger. The patty was juicy and the toasted brioche bun held up well. Wanted more from the chilli part. It wasn’t that spicy. I’ll say it was a wee bit misleading that it’s just jalepeños on there instead of like a chilli con carne. Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty pickles and jalapeños but just expected something a little hotter. There was also caramelised onions on the bottom, but the flavour was lost in all the pickles. The fries were class and a generous portion. Crispy and sweet. No complaints there. This was a solid burger option but I’d try a different one next time. A must visit for breakfast in Belfast 📍 Our first stop was @neighbourhood.cafe to fuel up for a big day of being tourists. We ordered ✅ Turkish eggs - gorgeous flavours so light and fresh ✅ Blueberry Pancakes - honestly up there as some of the best pancakes we’ve ever had, second only to @clintonstbakingco in New York. I am seriously glad we did try here because it was amazing😍 They have a really unique menu with so many things I would be keen to go back and try! We had also just missed out on the pre-theatre menu which seemed like a very good deal, so will try that if I ever get Brad back to the theatre again🤣 They serve cocktails which is great as well🍹.
