Restaurant Highlight! It's no surprise that @westafricanway is showing up on my feed again, and for good reason. I've worked with the Chef-Owner Sulayman many times and been able to experience the growth of his restaurant since Day 1. It remains one of my all-time favorite spots in DFW and very few who have gone have come back disappointed. As for what you see before you, I was privileged to experience some test items which could one day make it to the menu for your own dining pleasure. First up was a flame grilled ribeye served on the bone over top a rich gravy and alongside crispy frites. It's a classic dish fine dining dish heralding to the Chef's past. Next up was my personal favorite of the evening, "Pepper Soup" featuring long-braised short ribs in an well-spiced broth alongside tender carrots and potatoes. For all my fellow carnivores, this one touches you in the soul. Finally we have something a little less rich in a wonderfully plump yet flakey fish steak served over potato fondants and dressed in a light citrus jus. Surprisingly flavorful and made the guilt of the previous two dishes weigh a little less heavy. These dishes may not have made it to the menu yet, but there's still plenty of delicious items being served every day at the restaurant for you to try, including their scrumptious meat and shrimp pies, which I made sure to grab on the way out. The bagel scene in Mass is so bleak that when a good bagel place opens up trying to get a bagel feels like trying to get into the world’s most exclusive club. After two months of trying, I finally got into the world’s most exclusive club. Brick Street Bagels is definitely one of the better bagel places in Mass. However, I want to state this pop up bagel madness would never fly in a place like NY where you can find a good bagel anywhere. A Brick Street Bagel is fluffy, airy (in a good way), and their everything bagels are very well seasoned. The experience going to get the world’s most exclusive bagel is very fun in itself. I can’t even explain the adrenaline rush I got when the bagels were actually added to my cart. It felt very Sex and the City of me. Like I’m Samantha Jones getting my friends into Boston’s hottest new bagel spot. My only complaint is they only accept cash or Venmo. Hello, this is not the cartel. We can most definitely leave a paper trail. I did do BYOCC (bring your own cream cheese), but my friend who bought the scallion cream cheese said it was worth the $7.00 for their house made cream cheese. The staff were really friendly and I did enjoy myself. I can definitely see myself going through this big of a hassle to get another Brick Street Bagel again. I would love to try a salt or plain bagel. We then went next door to South End Buttery for very good coffee! 9/10 - Zuma, Mykonos, Greece. Yes, yes - I know there are Zuma’s all over the world and they all have pretty much the same menu, but there is something very special about the one in Mykonos. You get to see the stunning Myconian sunset, and the vibe is spot on with a chill but chic clientele and great music. The food is exceptional and visually stunning. Customer service: 4/10 I think the workers could use more customer service training. Entrance was fine, very warm, but the workers inside, especially the waitresses, could use more training, in my opinion. Their customer service was iffy, made the experience iffy as well. . Photo taking: I wouldn't recommend the place for photo lovers, as they recently implemented a 'no photo taking' policy. As of last week, supposedly. We were first told that we were only permitted to take photos where we were sitted only to be told we weren't allowed to at all later. . Reservations: should be made prior, and I did. I called the place thrice prior my visit only to arrive there and be told that there was no reservation under my name. I think this still goes back to poor customer service. . Also vegan pastry available. __ Note: the 'waffle fries' are not labelled as vegan on the menu, although they are part of the viva las vega bagel. I was assured they are vegan and baked in the same oil as the falafels - plantbased oil. ➡️ Had the Viva las Vega bagel 'burger' (it's with falafel balls, 14,95€) and a portion of hummus on the side (3,6€) and lemonade with elderflower (4,8€). Reasonably prices - given the location! As it was a nice Spring day, lots of people sat on the large terrace (with a splendid view at the Belfry) 🤩, so inside was calm. - Lots of space inside. We indulged in their newly launched breakfast menu, with my boyfriend opting for the hearty Let Loose Brekkie —a savory medley of eggs, bacon, toast, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Meanwhile, the Mongoose Bacon Bennie to me, offering a delectable twist on the classic egg benedict with bacon, avocado, and hollandaise sauce atop English muffins. Our server’s exceptional attentiveness added to the experience, she was so vibrant and friendly, enhancing our enjoyment of every bite. Baking in the sun, we savored the vibrant ambiance and each other’s company, with refreshing drinks—beer for him and hot chocolate for me—adding to the pleasure. A while back I was having these hugeee chocolate🍫 craving in the afternoons, so I took it upon myself to make a very chocolatey dessert— these salted chocolate ganache tarts. I used ginger nut biscuits for the base, but probably could have added some ground ginger to boost the flavour a little more. The ganache set quite firm in the fridge, so it needs to sit at room temperature before serving, although I’d look into the ratios of the ganache next time. I actually got a call out just as I was done filling these, so I didn’t get to smooth the top over😢.
