It was such a joy (well mostly) to capture this proposal in one of my favorite places! @capitolreefnps 🧡💍 I say mostly because the hike to the proposal destination totally kicked my butt!!! I had regrets bringing so many cameras, but in the end it was worth it. AND we rewarded ourselves afterwards with PIE 🥧 Max reached out to me with the plan to propose to his girlfriend Cassidy, at the iconic 📍Cassidy Arch - I MEAN CMON!!!! Together we secretly planned the whole thing for months. I told Max to have Cassidy bring a “nice outfit” for dinner and after our strenuous hike, and pie break, we met for sunset photos all glammed up! Needless to say SHE SAID YES!

Utah part II October 12-31: We had the pleasure of getting to visit Utah again and we were not disappointed. Our first stop was in Beaver City at Minersville Campground where we only paid $10/night for a spot with electricity and a view of the reservoir. Then we stayed 2 nights in Escalante, which I already posted about. After Escalante, we visited Bryce Canyon National Park and stayed one night at Sunset Campground. Bryce is absolutely stunning! We had to take a jaunt back up to Parris RV in Pocatello, ID to get our new refrigerator installed. (Been living without one for 7 weeks) 😭 New refrigerator installed and back to Utah to Capitol Reef NP. We enjoyed boondocking in Torrey just outside the park and also stayed at Wonderland RV Park. We hiked the Grand Wash and visited the orchards general store for some delicious apple pie 🥧. Then we headed back down through Escalante and got a nice hike in to the Natural Bridge. Stayed at Hole in Rock BLM. We stopped at Kodachrome State Park and did a short hike admiring all the erect rocks 🤣. On our way to Zion, we boondocked at Tom’s Best Spring Rd. Absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Then we made our way through Zion NP and stayed at Zion RV Park in Springdale. Zion was crowded on October 27th. We couldn’t find a place to park to visit the Visitors Center. The drive through the mile long tunnel and the view looking back at the tunnel peep holes and at the road below is fascinating! After Zion, we boondocked at Hurricane Cliffs BLM and then stayed at HH Zion Winery in Leeds, UT for one night. Yes! There are a few wineries in Utah. Then back up to Salt Lake City for Dan to fly out to see our new home in VT. Lucy and I stayed at the KOA right next to the airport, which is surprisingly very nice despite being in SLC skid row. Capitol Reef National Park (PT 3) These pictures are from Grand Wash Road. The Grand Wash is a normally dry stream bed that comes to life when rainwater drains from the steep hills. Grand Wash Road roughly follows the Grand Wash, in several places actually using the stream bed, and ends at the trail to the Narrows. The Narrows was an old passageway for Indians and early settlers through the intense terrain of the Waterpocket Fold. 1: Uranium Mines. In the early 20th century, uranium was discovered in a rock layer in many areas around here including capitol reef. Early miners wore crushed uranium ore in bags around their neck as it was thought to be medicinal. During the early Cold War, mining was encouraged for nuclear bomb production. Boarded up mine entrances dot this layer of rock in an attempt to keep humans away. 2: Cave entrance in the cliffs 4: Cassidy Arch. Named after Butch Cassidy, as it was rumored he had a hideout in this area due to its rough and inaccessible terrain 7-8: The Grand Wash. Here you can see the dry stream bed, and the way the gravel road has been routed to take advantage of this natural path in some places #nationalparkservice #capitolreefnationalpark #grandwashcapitolreef #cassidyarch

Days 28-31 Capitol Reef National Park. We did Cohab Canyon and Hickman Bridge. Cassidy Arch was an uphill hike but so worth it being the only arch you can walk across in the Mighty Five. Grand Wash Narrows was lovely and cool and without any water unlike Zion. We do our best but sometimes mother nature has other ideas 💡 Shoutout to Mike + Jen for trusting @popupido and myself as rain approached on their Elopement day. We pivoted and as you can tell from the photos - everything turned out AMAZING!! Their ceremony even ended with a rainbow in the distance

The rain didn’t stop these two from having the best Elopement day in Capitol Reef National Park. In fact it made it matter - as Jen finished her vows the sound of thunder and lightning blasted in the distance ⚡️ Soon after, the sun came out & the newlyweds celebrated with Pie & champagne 🥧 🥂 They tried every pie from the Gifford Homestead and even ranked their favorites - it was a joyful day & I can’t wait to share more Planned by @popupido Florals by @saltydogfarmboulder
