There is no timeline for healing. It's all about TRUST. When we trust, we can go so far, so deep. When we trust ourselves and our therapist, we can heal anything in a really short amount of time. When you get to that point it feels incredible - trust me 💛. Now, for many of us, trust has been broken throughout our life journey. We have to relearn to trust again and this happens over time and with positive experiences. Well, healing is not a race, and we don't need to rush it, you might say. And I fully agree. I want to amplify that over time and, with a great client & therapist relationship, it becomes much, much faster and lighter to heal, transform, and change. Trust is the gateway. So, what does this quote mean? Well, it means that we can fight stress simply by deciding what to think about. Yeah, it's as simple (and as tough) as that! Of course, stress is something we all face. And often, it's not so much about what's happening around us, but how we see or CHOOSE to interpret those events. In our busy lives we often forget that the real source of our stress is not the things on our to do list. It is how we think about and relate to the things we have to do, as well as our hopes and desires. Rarely is the activity that we are currently engaged in the actual source of the stress that we feel. Our stress is more directly related to our attachment to having things turn out in a particular way and a fear or concern that they may not. Unfortunately, our attachment is usually tied to an exaggerated view as to the actual importance of any particular outcome. As beautifully stated by John Bruna, “I invite you to be aware of stress as it arises. When you notice stress, instead of reacting, take a few breaths, let go of exaggerations and gain some perspective, remember these are just moments that will come and go and what is important is how you show up. One year ago today my life changed. 2/22. I feel like it was the day I was reborn. Funny because I was born on 11/1 and diagnosed with breast cancer on 2/22. 111 and 222. Seems magical to me. It feels like it’s the universe showing me I will be ok. So much can happen in a year. There have been ups and downs but I truly believe I’m who I am today because of the journey I’ve been on. We can fight it or we can surrender to it. Surrender doesn’t mean giving up. It means living your life to the fullest and doing what you can to be the healthiest and happiest version of yourself. I’ve never felt I needed to fight cancer. I don’t resonate with the F cancer angle either. That works for some people but it’s never felt like it was me. I’ve always felt cancer was a messenger. It came to show me what was out of alignment and lead me on the path to the best version of myself and my purpose. I want to heal, not fight. I want to love, not fight. I want to live, not fight. I’m here to listen and understand not only cancer but myself. I’ve learned more about myself in the last year than I have my entire lifetime. It’s not the journey I would’ve chosen but it’s the one I’ve been given and I’m grateful. And I’m glad I can share it with all of you and hopefully show you that you get to do things your way. You are your own advocate. You are the CEO of your life and you get to decide how it goes. You have the power to change it if you don’t like the chapter you are in. Love your life and live it well. ❤️ Now I’ve taken myself out to breakfast to celebrate and enjoy this morning!
