Although it’s winter in Canada, it certainly doesn’t feel like it! But, I had plenty of bulky yarn leftover from my sock project that I decided to make a pair of mittens for when the weather turns ❄️. That leftover yarn was from @patonsyarn from the discontinued alpaca blend family. I used a guideline from @handylittleme to create these mittens. Louise used super bulky yarn and 10mm needles to create her mittens, but I decided to double up on 2 threads of bulky yarn with a much smaller needle. I had the hardest time making the #magicloop technique work for me that I just knit in the round using multiple needles. As the largest gauge I have is 6.5mm, that is what I used. So, I had to change the pattern to suit me. Instead of casting on 18 stitches, I changed it to 24 and it worked really well in my favour. However, if I choose to do this again, I’ll aim to make the cuff longer to go beneath the sleeve. But that’s for next time. In the end, I love these. I love the color blocking I have with the #abalone @lionbrandyarn #superbulkyyarn. I thought to throw in that abalone yarn because my toque is knit with the same stuff and I wanted my mittens to somewhat match my toque. I hope it makes a difference. But I love how they are all wool. These will be super cozy if negative temperatures eventually come into Alberta. C’est donc un pantalon avec un pan asymétrique qui vient se superposer sur la jambe opposée à l’aide d’un bouton. . Je n’ai rien inventé ! Je me suis juste inspirée d’un modèle vu dans le commerce. . Alors rien de compliqué, je suis partie sur la base d’un pantalon Palazzo que j’ai déjà réalisé une dizaine de fois et j’ai ajouté ce pan pris en sandwich dans la couture côté de la jambe gauche. . Et pour le tissu c’est le polyviscose légèrement stretch de @la_tissutheque.de.charlie : [TWIST] coloris Sable . Il est lourd et fluide ce qui lui confère un tombé impeccable pour un pantalon et il se froisse très peu donc idéal ! . Il existe aussi en camel, fushia, noir, olive et violine. . A little over a month ago, I was blessed to stand by my brother's side as he wed the love of his life. Not only did my brother ask me to be his best man, I was also offered to create THE dress. 😊 So for the last year, in between the times spent in casts or resting from chronic illness flair-ups, I drafted patterns, created mock-ups, reworked issues, drafted again, redesigned the neckline, then cut, sewed, hand-sewed, ripped a few stitches, re-sewed, until we finally had a finished dress, train, and underpinnings... at midnight on the day of the wedding. 🥴 Oof! Robe d’été 🌾 Une autre robe longue que je souhaitais coudre depuis longtemps. Depuis que j’ai acheté ce sublime coupon au CSF en novembre dernier, pour être précise. Il s’agit d’un crêpe de viscose à rayures @lamaisonnaive dont j’adore les couleurs. Pour le patron, j’avais une idée en tête donc je suis partie sur le patron que j’avais modifié pour coudre ma robe à cerises il y a quelques années. La base est le patron Hélios d’Atelier Scämmit auquel j’avais redessiné une emmanchure. Cette fois-ci, j’ai cousu des manches papillons, ma passion en ce moment. J’ai également allongé la robe en augmentant la longueur de base et celle du volant. La taille est élastiquée dans le dos et cintrée grâce à une coulisse devant. J’ai profité de quelques jours au bord de la mer pour faire des photos, je trouve que les rayures rappellent cette ambiance de vacances.
