When I finally committed to hosting a Social Stitch Retreat, the first thing I did was start stitching a hoop to help promote it 🤦🏻♀️ This may not seem like a great use of my time, but what it actually did was to give me time! Whilst stitching this I had time to think about what I wanted to achieve with the event, what was important, what I wanted to include.... And think of the potential... Well I'm fully kitted out in @matchymatchysewingclub today😆 Top is the #allaroundcrew and bottoms are the #archerworkpants . 🪡All around crew- I altered this by cutting the Med size but tapering it to small at the waist. I also added the waistband panel at the bottom (from the expansion pattern). Fabric for this is from @annies.abbeydale - a lovely sweatshirt, so cosy and lovely to see (I also have joggers out of this fabric -see prev post) . 🎯Archer Work Pants- I LOVE these pants **NEW FAV PATTERN** They are soooo comfortable to wear and I finally used my needle cord I purchased from @elephantinmyhandbag 2yrs ago😆. The pockets and inside leg are a canvas I purchased last week from @thestitchfestival . 👀Both patterns are really easy to follow, great instructions and simple to sew up. A new pair of slippers for Bob! Bless him, he's been asking for a pair for ages as his 'boob slippers' are looking a little beaten (they are 🐾Merlins go to fetch item when you enter the house!!) The boob slippers are the same pattern but in boob printed fabric😆 . This is the @twigandtale Wayfarer Shoe pattern . My machine had a bit of a struggle with these this time as I had used some pretty hefty fabrics 🙄🤭 . There were A LOT of thick layers to get through. I changed my needle to a Jeans needle, extended the stitch length and reduced the thread tension and sewed really slowly and bless it, we got there in the end!!! I use a @brothersewinguk machine and it's an absolute beaut😍 . 🪡The outer is a canvas cushion cover from @ikeauk 🪡The lining is a 🧶wool blend from inside of an old jacket (it was pretty thick fabric but just looked so cozy☺️) 🪡The sole is some beautiful leather offcut I bought from a lovely makers shop in York before Xmas 🪡Then I have padded the footbed with some foam disable interfacing So LOTS OF THICK LAYERS😆😆 . I've decided* that I'm going to track my steps this year 🚶🏻♀️. I need to move my body more and I needed to work out how to fit time into my day to look after myself. So I'm going to track my steps and add extra details if I do other exercise such as swimming. I have a thingy to wear on my wrist and I'm going to use the template that I included in my most recent blog post (probably stuck to the fridge) to keep track before updating my hoop. I was going to do another temperature hoop because the geek in me wanted to be able to compare the years, but then when do I stop?! I'm really looking forward to all those squares being the same size (unlike my prototype attempt this year 🤦🏻♀️) and I might even find a different stitch to use.... 🤔 If you already have some of this fabric then don't forget I'm running an online workshop on 16th January to help you get started (just remember to start logging your subject on the 1st!).
