We got these beautiful porcelain necklaces from @scarabpots this morning, and they remind me of tiles that have been weathered at sea for years. Working in small batches with a variety of stoneware and porcelain clays, she primarily throws her pieces on the pottery wheel, but also creates a selection of decorative objects using moulds designed and produced in-house. Amphora Aromatics founders, Christine and Peter Carroll, travelled the world & spent time in a Himalayan hill town, studying native traditional medicine systems & associated philosophy. On their return, they set up Amphora Aromatics - taking inspiration from their travels overland through Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan to India. We have an amazing selection of their products in store. The products range from £5.50 -£15, making them affordable and they all smell incredible. Hi I’m Aura, I take this opportunity to introduce myself and LOKAL to everyone who has been following our journey as well as all the new followers. I have been living in Brussels for 7 years, recently became belgian 🥳 and I feel that I have a heartbeat for this city ! Three years ago, with the arrival of covid, I decided to go down a professional path that I felt very enthusiastic about, it was something very spontaneous, like when you start to be more aware of your own lifestyle and want to share it with others. In my case I turned this new lifestyle into a business venture 🏄🏽‍♀️ Like many of the expatriates who come to this city, the first months you look for places where you can find the products or experiences to which we are already accustomed. The search for clothes has always been exciting for me, I found in Belgian a lot of everything, vintage houses with varied prices and qualities, known designers with various stores but not a space dedicated to young projects, however on the internet there were many, every time I found one of my favorite appeared many similar ones. Lokal born with the focus of sustainably and fairly produced clothing, jewelery and home accessories from Belgian brands and designers in order to give them more visibility. A cozy living room atmosphere with great attention to detail. And not just about the sale. Workshops where knowledge can be passed on to end users. ✨ Day 7 : Learn ✨ @joannehawker ✨ Day 8 : Finishing Touches ✨ ✨ Day 9 : Trial & Error ✨ We are running a bit behind on #marchmeetthemaker2023 so I thought I'd try and cover 3 days in one post!😅 (Please bear with me) Learn: Opening and running your own shop when you've never done it before is definitely challenging to say the least, but that said I've loved everyday. The image I've shared for this prompt is me learning how to build a new e-commerce website.... eeek!! Wish me luck 🤞 Finishing Touches: The shop display is constantly evolving due to the different artists we have in the shop and therefore we are always adjusting the display, tweaking things and making improvements on the shop. The images I have shown for this prompt is my first shop sign from 2017 and my new improved sign from 2020 Trial & Error: I feel life is basically trial and error 😃 so when it comes to the shop I do the same thing. Try something see if it works, if it does great, if not try something else. We tried several different things in the shop, from workshops, window displays, volunteers working in the shop and opening 6 days a week. Hello everyone! We're joining the #meetthemaker challenge this year (few days late but that's ok!) ✨ Day 1 : Brand Origin ✨ @joannehawker We thought we'd share with you the start of IDC I moved to Bristol in 2013 and started selling my jewellery at the local markets. I got to know a lot of the makers and wanted to open a shop promoting local artists. I have always wanted a shop of my own so when this opportunity came up I jumped at the chance. The logo was designed by one of my husband's friends. I'd sent him a few designs I liked the look of and told him the name and this was my favourite out of the 4 choices. I chose the final colours after spending hours in B&Q's paint section. We opened our doors just in time for upfest 2017, which was at the end of July. We only started with a handful of makers, but as word spread about our shop, we started to be approached by artists who wanted to sell with us. We now have over 40 local artists selling with us and we are updating our collections all the time!
