Since I already know a bit about what goes on in the first part of the campaign (Kaitlyn ran us through it a few years ago) I decided I can play a little bit with what I know and wrote up a goblin that used to be a part of the clan that is featured prominently in the Lost Mines of Phandelver. If you read this, you’re awesome. If not, I understand. I started my creative journey 7 years ago, but the triggering point happened 6 years ago, when my mom unexpectedly passed away. Panic attacks. Depression. Anxiety. You name it, and I went through it at that time. And truthfully, still go through it. I was on the verge to spiral out of control until I went through some photo albums my mom had there. And going through those photos, brought upon a peace and an acceptance of the situation. Because I knew that even though my mom is gone, those photos at least provided some semblance of happiness through memory. And my passion for creating visual content took form. Now, I’m absolutely in love with this craft because I get to create memories and tell stories. And it’s all because of a camera. Losing someone you love is never easy. The pain never really goes away. But healthy distractions can definitely help you cope. And in my case, literally saved my life. Now – I’m focused on building an agency that allows me to help business owners tell their story through video. It’s been a bumpy ride so far, but creating is what I love doing. Today 16 years ago was the first ever Boogie Tots class. For those of you who don't know how Boogie Tots started, here is the story: When my son, Ben was small I longed to take him to a class just like mine, he loved to dance and sing, his favourite music to listen to was Queen, Michael Jackson and the Crazy Frog. We enjoyed many parent and toddler classes together, sing and sign, bounce and rhyme at the library and various Playgroups and yes we loved them but none of these encouraged him to explore his creativity, build his confidence and just let him have fun. So I decided to take a risk and set up Boogie Tots, for Ben, because surely there were other children just like my son. When the first class came we had many people join us, it was £4 per child (which seemed a lot at the time) The idea was Ben and I would teach the parents and tots a routine to Valerie by Mark Ronson, simple!! Wrong, I quickly learnt not every child is like Ben and this wasn’t as easy as I thought. We quickly changed the session and sat down to sing some nursery rhymes, one mum suggested Dingle Dangle Scarecrow and I didn’t even know it. It was a disaster! Still, we came back the following week this time the numbers were less but we carried on improving the class as we went. If nothing else, it was great bonding for Ben and I. After trying for many weeks I was just about ready to give up on Boogie Tots, it wasn’t really making any money and I was finding it difficult to fill up the 45 mins with songs and games to keep everyone entertained. That was until I had a call from Surestart, they’d heard about the class and thought it would work perfectly in their centres. I went in for a meeting and took my little star with me and to this day I’m convinced he is the reason the centre hired us. They fell in love with this confident, knowledgeable little boy who practically sold Boogie Tots to them!!! Recollection, 2022 From the series, In the Finite, Infinitely While working on this project I’ve been contemplating what makes up the universe. I’ve been thinking about science and spirituality and their approach to uncover the origin story of humanity. My mind has wandered to the edges of the imagination attempting to construct my own origin story. I often find myself returning to the symbolism of the natural 4 elements (water, earth, air, fire). In this particular image I use water to fill the void of space between celestial bodies. As I reflected on the image, I found myself pondering the frequency of matter and how these frequencies are patterns of memory. I was reminded of how water holds memory and remembers all. I realized that form is made up of patterns of frequencies. These patterns are ancient, sacred even. Life is born from the depths of cosmic memory and it is this thought that I find to be so profound. Everything works in cycles. Everything repeats like a fractal. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years since I left Liberia. It was everything from managing @takunj and producing The Hip Co Festival to meetings with ambassadors & presidents and running social impact projects. I hosted open mics, organized musicians, developed an arts for change model (Takun is even a character in a children’s book!), negotiated deals, produced albums and music videos. One day, I’ll have to find a place to really write out my stories from that time (ask me about the rumors I’d heard about myself, or the time George Weah called me, or when I almost got a pet chimp), but even after all this time, it’s still hard to summarize my years in Liberia. What I do know is that I did good work, learned a lot, built some genuine relationships, and was surrounded by so much creativity. Wouldn’t change it for anything.

[Bookreview: Heartless by Marissa Meyer] 《Sometimes your heart is the only thing worth listening to.》 Everyone knows the story of Alice in Wonderland. So upon reading Heartless by @marissameyerauthor we know exactly what we're in for: the origin villain story of the Queen of Hearts. Still, I really hoped that the story would end differently and Cath could escape her fate. While reading Heartless I sympathised with Cath a lot, and really hoped for her to achieve her dreams. But as the story continued, I had to accept that it wasn't meant to be. I really liked how Meyer shaped the characters and made the storyline so that it would link up very well with the story of Alice in Wonderland. Even the characters I didn't like, for example the King of Hearts, I felt bad for at times. Okay, he's a ridiculous and annoying character, needless to say a bit of a useless king, but I just pitied him; for having so much love inside of him, that he just wouldn't get back. I liked this story a lot! After having finished this book, I'm not alright, just mostly right. 《To be all right implies an impossible phase. We hope for mostly right on the best of our days.》
