Day 111, Inskip Point. The recovery points arrived!!! After picking them up, we had a mad rush to get everything stocked up and ready because we were going to get to K'gari Island (formerly Fraser) the next morning! This day was a long one. We stocked up food, did some laundry, sorted out our permit (had to be printed apparently), and got going. We attempted to get water at Gympie, to no avail. Once we hit Rainbow Beach, we sorted water and fuel and got out to Inskip Point to meet up with our mates, Gary and Mick. Josh had to get at least one of the recovery points on, which was a fair stuff around, but he managed in the end with much help from Gary and Mick's running commentary. We were camped on sand where we were, and so we let the tyres down so they were ready for the next morning. A bit of a fire and some dinner before bed. We had an early start the next morning. I should add too to my last post. We saw red tail black cockatoos for the first time!!! Just a short walk through the campgrounds and you're on the beach, looking across at K'gari. This was a very popular spot for campers to end the day by watching the sunset and for most people with their favourite beverage or two. - Suitable for off road camper trailers, caravans, campervans and camping in a tent. - Long drop toilets - Campfires allowed (conditions apply) - Cost $7 per adult. Our first official flight with the DJI Air 3 - Inskip Point in Rainbow Beach 🌈 I love the perspective you get from a drone. It really reminds you how little of the world around us we see. Initial thoughts on the DJI Air 3 compared to Air 2: - Higher quality images and video (as you'd expect) - Better obstacle avoidance - The new RC controller is cool! The one thing that does make me a little nervous now that we don't have to plug my phone into the controller is the fact that you don't get instantly downloaded footage to your phone. It's a manual process. Unless there's a setting we haven't figured out so feel free to tell us your tips! We are still total drone newbies even after having one for years. Also, we got a drone landing pad. It looks ridiculous but after getting sand in our gimbal in the past, we wanted to minimise such issues so if you see this ridiculous thing in our videos... that's what it is 😂
