SANTUÁRIO DE NOSSA SENHORA DA NAZARÉ A imagem de Nossa Senhora da Nazaré é a de uma virgem negra. Esculpida em madeira, foi trazida de Mérida para este promontório oceânico, no ano de 711. No Sítio da Nazaré (um bairro da vila da Nazaré) ainda se podem observar os três santuários em que a imagem foi venerada ao longo dos tempos: uma pequena gruta junto à arriba, cento e dez metros acima da praia, onde Frei Romano, que trouxe a imagem de Mérida, viveu como eremita e foi sepultado; a Capela da Memória, construída por D. Fuas Roupinho, à beira da falésia, sobre a gruta, onde a imagem foi venerada entre 1182 e 1377; e o Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Nazaré, fundado pelo rei D. Fernando I, em 1377, que começou a ser reconstruído no início do século XVII até adquirir a sua forma atual, dificilmente se reconhecendo hoje as suas origens medievais. No interior, destacam-se os azulejos holandeses do início do século XVIII que cobrem a nave, bem como as pinturas da Sacristia que descrevem a história do milagre que salvou a vida a D. Fuas Roupinho, alcaide-mor do Castelo de Porto de Mós.   A imagem de Nossa Senhora da Nazaré, que segundo se crê é a original, encontra-se no altar da igreja e atrai grandes romarias anuais, que decorrem a 8 de setembro. No Brasil, a devoção a Nossa Senhora de Nazaré tem grande expressão em vários locais, nomeadamente Belém no estado do Pará (cultuada no Círio de Nazaré) e Saquarema no Rio de Janeiro. I think today is a good day to get to know us better! It’s been a while since we are here and we would love to know more about you. Here are some facts about us. ❤️ I’m from Poland but I’ve been living in Spain for 10 years. I studied journalism and international relations. I spent 6 months in Murcia within Erasmus program. I moved permanently to Barcelona right after my graduation. I am passionate about foreign languages, I worked in marketing for many years and now I am working for Amazon and I help to develop the quality of different marketplaces. I read tones of books and I love everything that’s creative - writing, taking pictures, making and editing videos, dancing, drawing and designing🫶 Edwin is from Venezuela and he has been living in Spain for 12 years. Few months ago he obtained Spanish citizenship so now with two European passports we can finally travel wherever we want 🥳 He is a Web Developer and the most hard-working person I know. He is also a way better cooker than me. 👨🏽‍🍳 He loves motorbikes and everything related to it. 🏍️ He truly showed me the meaning of true love. ❤️ We met in 2018, two weeks after I came back from backpacking Ecuador alone for 2 months. I am absolutely sure that we met in the most appropriate moment ever. 🫶 Last year we moved from Barcelona to a smaller, coastal town 20 minutes away from Barcelona because we bought our first apartment 🏡 It was a huge and very exciting change! We both work 100% remotely. Today is the 50th anniversary of the military coup that ended 48 years of fascist dictatorship in Portugal. On the 25th of April of 1974, a group of junior Portuguese officers seized several key government and TV infrastructures around the country, convinced several senior officers to join them and made the "Carnation Revolution", so called because it was mostly a peaceful coup, with 4 civilian deaths and a secret police agent. So the flower sellers in Lisbon distributed red carnations to the soldiers, who put them on the muzzles of their assault rifles.
