~ SOLD ~ I've had a flurry of finding pretty vintage brass trivets recently. It's funny how things go in cycles. I think your eye becomes atuned to look out for certain pieces. This lovely brass bow could not be ignored. I'm unsure of the date. It could be anything from 1950 onwards but it's probably 1980s. It has little brass feet which may originally have had rubber around them but this is long gone. Moon Bowls: When time permits we love to create small batches of one-off pieces. Usually thrown on the wheel, they give us a chance to bring new ideas and techniques into being, and explore other clays and glazes (shown, a chocolate stoneware) without the worries of production. The first batch of these was created around 2010 and we did them off and on, up to our last batch which we made in 2018 for Barneys NY (RIP!). A client remembered seeing them there and recently inquired. Iets wat je heel vaak terug ziet komen in mijn ontwerpen is een heel duidelijk contrast tussen 'oud' en 'nieuw'. Ik houd er enorm van om hiermee te spelen. Vaak vallen authentieke details veel meer op als je ze extra aanzet met moderne items of afwerkingen die contrasterend zijn. Ik ben weg van de combi spiegel met haard zoals hier!
Maatwerk in de slaapkamer. Vóór de restyling van deze slaapkamer was de gardarobekast een stuk lager. Op de plek waar nu links een schoenenkast met ruimte voor een TV ingebouwd is, stond een lage ladekast. Door het toepassen van maatwerk ontstaat veel meer rust en eenheid. Ook worden de ruimtes veel meer benut en laten we eerlijk zijn, we kunnen allemaal wel wat extra bergruimte gebruiken!
