Standing next to every great man is a great woman…… The Los City STENTORIANS are saddened by the passing of Dr. Norma Jeanne “Tiny” Goins DeAllen-Hartsfield but rejoice in knowing that heaven has gained a beautiful Angel. Sunrise, September 18, 1934- Sunset, January 14, 2022 Dr. Norma Jeanne “Tiny” Goins DeAllen- Hartsfield was born September 18, 1934 in Alameda/Pocatello, Idaho to Edward and Ethel Goins. Jeanne attended Pocatello S.D.A School, Franklin Junior High, Pocatello HS, Union College, and Western American University. In 1956, Jeanne became an R.N., 1962, she taught Nursing Assistants, 1995 she graduated with a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology. Working with incest survivors was her final work. She retired in 2006. Jeanne had been an Active member of Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist church in Inglewood for over 34 years. For about nine years she taught the primary class (ages 6-10), organized a Single’s Ministry, served as Sabbath School Superintendent, Health Coordinator and church clerk. On January 14th 2022, Jeanne passed away of natural causes. Jeanne was preceded by her husband Arnett “The Rookie” Hartsfield of 22 years and leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Step children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, God-Son and good friends. The organization is in need of volunteers immediately!! We are requesting (25) individuals to assist in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service Event where we are supporting as volunteer staff, scheduled for this Saturday, January 15th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (Parking lot near IHOP, located off of Stocker Street). We are asking that our volunteers arrive at 8:30am for briefing and assignments for the day. The LA CITY STENTORIANS had the distinguished honor to meet and visit with Mrs. Dorothy Brandon, widow of one of the Old STENTORIANS, Altha Brandon and their son Al Brandon Jr., as she shared an amazing quilt made in honor of her husband. Mr. Brandon was commissioned as a Los Angeles City Firefighter in August 1946 and proudly served the department for 15 years before his retirement in March of 1961. He will always be remembered for the battle he fought against discrimination, the pride he exuded while serving LA City residents, and the path he laid out for others coming behind him.
