#FloresIC 🚒🔥 On Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 6:33 a.m., #LACoFD firefighters responded to a report of a commercial building fire located on Atlantic Avenue in the City of Lynwood. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-story strip mall with smoke and fire showing from the attic. Firefighters immediately initiated fire attack and the incident commander called for a second alarm resource assignment to assist with firefighting operations. TWO OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTINGS For full news stories please visit: @ktla5news @nbcla *Press Release* (Copied) 1st OIS Officer-Involved Shooting - 6800 block of Cerritos Avenue On April 26, 2024, at approximately 8:35 pm, officers were dispatched to report of a person with a gun inside a residence on the 6800 block of Cerritos Av. Arriving officers learned that this was an armed home invasion robbery and that an armed suspect was still in the yard of the house. Officers surrounded the house and contacted the male adult suspect, who they observed to be armed with a firearm. Officers engaged in verbal de-escalation for over an hour. SWAT resources responded and were preparing to deploy when an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck once in the upper body, and officers immediately rendered aid. LBFD paramedics treated and transported the suspect to local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A replica firearm was recovered at the scene. No other injuries were reported, and no officers were injured. The investigation is ongoing. 2nd OIS Officer-Involved Shooting - 58th Street and Orange Avenue On April 26, 2024 at approximately 11:44 pm, an officer was on patrol in the area 58th Street and Orange Avenue when he observed a male adult suspect shooting at a male adult victim. The suspect fled on foot leading to a foot pursuit. During the foot pursuit, an officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers rendered medical aid until LBFD paramedics arrived and transported the suspect to a local hospital. The suspect sustained injuries to his lower body and is currently in stable condition. No other injuries were reported, and no officers were injured. The shooting victim fled the scene. Officers recovered a firearm at the scene. There is no indication this was related to the officer-involved shooting that occurred earlier in the evening. 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙚 • On April 9, 2024, West Covina Fire Department responded to a Residential Structure Fire on the 2600 block of Evelyn Ave. First arriving units reported smoke showing from the residence. Due to reports of an armed individual barricaded inside of the residence, all Fire Department personnel were unable to immediately initiate fire suppression operations until the scene was determined safe by @westcovinapd . Once the residence was determined safe, fire extinguishment was initiated and accomplished without any injuries or fatalities to personnel or civilians; Two dogs were successfully recovered by our fire personnel and evaluated for respiratory issues and physical injuries. #VermontIncident 🚒🔥 On Monday, April 22, 2024, at 11:55 a.m., #LACoFD firefighters responded to a report of an apartment house fire located on South Vermont Avenue in the City of Gardena. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story apartment building with smoke and fire showing. Firefighters immediately initiated fire attack along with search and rescue operations. The incident commander called for a second alarm resource assignment to assist with firefighting operations. Knockdown was declared at 12:40 p.m. One firefighter who sustained burn injuries, and three injured civilians, were treated on scene and transported to local area hospitals for further evaluation and treatment. 4/17/2024 4:21pm Douglas MacArthur Park Gundry Ave and 14th st. Long Beach Police Department LBPD PRESS RELEASE (COPIED) At approximately 4:21 p.m., officers were notified of a report of a person with a gun in MacArthur Park. Officers responded to the area and located a suspect matching the suspect description in the park, occupied by other residents. Officers contacted the suspect, at which time, they observed the suspect in possession of a firearm. Officers gave the suspect multiple orders to put down the firearm. The suspect did not comply which resulted in an officer-involved shooting. Officers rendered medical aid until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. Fire personnel transported the suspect to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Officers recovered a loaded firearm. No officers were injured. No other injuries were reported. Homicide detectives responded to the scene. Officers were equipped with body-worn cameras. LBPD is in the process of reviewing the footage and will make that available to the public as soon as possible. As with all officer-involved shooting incidents, the Department will be conducting a full and thorough multi-level review of the incident. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office will conduct an independent investigation of the incident, as they do with all officer-involved shootings that result in injury or death. At 5:14 AM on April 15, 2024, a tragic incident occurred on the northbound Hollywood (US 101) Freeway at Vineland Avenue in Studio City. An LAFD recruit on his way to the Drill Tower Academy for training may have been involved in a traffic collision. He got out of his vehicle to likely assess the situation and help anyone in need when he was hit by another car. Our own firefighter paramedics responded quickly to the scene, but unfortunately, they had to declare our member deceased. LAFD Recruit Firefighter Jacob Fuerte, 22, joined the LAFD on February 12, 2024. He was in week 10 of a 20-week rigorous training program. He is survived by his father, two sisters, and a brother. Recruit Fuerte’s father is a 17-year veteran Firefighter/Paramedic with the department, and he has dedicated his life to helping others. Raised in the LAFD family, Recruit Fuerte understood the importance of helping those in need. “I received devastating news this morning that one of our colleagues lost their life tragically. He had just started his firefighting career, which requires courage, bravery, and prioritizing others before oneself. Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family during this most difficult time.” said City of Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is conducting a hit-and-run investigation into this tragedy’s circumstances. I took a quick break from the trail to attend the Fire Station 14 reunion. The event was held Sunday April 14th in Bellflower at the @lacountyfiremuseum . First of all Thank you to the La County fire museum for hosting the event and also all the people responsible for making this happen. I wouldn’t have missed this for the world. I was very grateful to Christy for coming to pick me up in Pine AZ ( mile 456). The day was filled with hugs not handshakes. We reminisced and laughed and even a couple tears were shed. Here are a few of the pictures taken that day. These are just a few of my favorites. The cake that was made with a picture of Petey, our Fire Dog was really special. I was so happy to take a picture with the original 214 C shift crew, Capt. Ray, myself and FF’s Bart & DJ. Station 14 will always hold a special place in my heart. I was so fortunate to work alongside some of the best Fire fighters (brothers) in the County. Past, present and future; LACoFD Station 14 will always be one of the best! When you look back on the memories of the past, you don’t realize that those are the moments that are important and mean so much. It’s not till years later do you realize that little moments were such a big part of your life I’ll be getting back on trail in Pine,Az this week to continue my journey to Utah.
