🎉 [adoption reunion story: new chapter] Some of you may remember that we were fortunate to reunite with Riley’s birthdad four years ago thanks to Ancestry.com. We talk with him regularly and see him a few times a year. @cabadass is a kind, loving, playful guy who simply adores Riley. This relationship has helped Riley to feel more comfortable in her skin and has supported her identity development as she learns more and more about her biological family history and gets to know members of her family. 😭 This weekend, we were delighted to travel to Atlanta to meet Riley’s infant half brother Milo for the first time! He was born 2 1/2 months ago to Matt and his wife Kat and he’s absolutely scrumptious as all babies are. But boy, when I saw my daughter pick up her baby brother and hold him for the first time, the tears began to flow freely for me. She was in awe of this precious bundle and just kept saying over and over “I have a baby brother! I have a baby brother!” ❤️ As someone who was raised as an only child and met my eleven brothers and sisters when I was an adult, I know all too well how deeply profound this connection is for her. There is something about a sibling that is just so special and unique. Although he’s just an itty bitty baby now, I pray that as he grows up, we can nurture the relationship between the two of them and that they can develop a strong bond. 🙏🏻 We are so grateful to Matt and Kat for welcoming us to Atlanta and to Riley’s Grandma Maddy for being invested in a relationship with us as well. I get it -- days are busy in motherhood and eating 2 full meals a day can feel like a major win. BUT… getting enough is crucial to feel energized and even-keeled. Getting enough protein helps: - maintain energy levels - decrease sugar cravings - promote better sleep - help with exercise recovery - and encourage a steady mood all day long What I find the biggest hurdle for moms getting enough protein is 3-fold: 1. Knowing how much protein they need as an individual 2. Knowing approximately how much protein is in the foods they are eating 3. Over the years, we have gotten to know you and your families. Thank you for letting us be part of your special events, whether it is Thanksgiving meals or birthday parties or celebrations of life. We wanted to give a special shout out to Mayo Clinic Health System, an amazing customer who helped us get through COVID. Mayo was working hard to keep us healthy with all their health care heroes. The administration reached out to us several times for very, very large orders of cookies, cupcakes and chex mixes. Like THOUSANDS of items, which was a lot for a small business like ours. We leapt into action – spending many a late night icing cookies, packaging cupcakes and chex mix and putting labels on each one. Thanks to Vicki Hart for making the connection. Vonda Herding from Edina Reality ordered over a hundred holiday pies from us for several years. We are grateful for the Old Town love. And we can’t let Barb go unnoticed. This amazing woman comes in for her monster cookies and soup, and usually drops off a special boutique of flowers with an uplifting note. That small gesture meant the world to us, especially on those really hard days when nothing seemed to be falling into place. Catering for Joe Paulsen when he was across the street at the Hubbard Building was a highlight. We loved working closely with him to build specialty menus and ultimately spending some time on the receiving end of his business consulting. We love being across the street from the Hubbard Building, working with Gwen from SBDC and MSU – bringing our housemade items for local meetings. We have also enjoyed building our on-site catering options with other Barb with South Central Service Cooperative. 💔🍼😢 TEN LITTLE LOVES 😢🍼💔 These tan little loves, lost their mother and they ended up at Butts County Animal Control… One of our rescue friends from Butts Mutts transported them up to us. They are all nursing really well, unfortunately, we don’t have enough foster homes to intake the whole litter, but we’ve been able to secure help from some of our rescue friends in Tennessee. ❤️🎉 Everybody has full bellies so shortly seven of these little loves will make the road trip north to the other rescue and three of them (including the puny little runt) will stay here with us. My girls are my family ♥️ I’m so lucky to be part of such a supportive and loving group of friends- not only did they watch me compete in Pole Art Italy, they helped me get on and off stage, dealt with my wedding and comp anxiety, spent long hours at the airport dealing with horrible delays, helped me carry my bags on and off multiple trains getting to the wedding venue, helped me get ready for the actual wedding, and supported me through it all (as they always do ♥️) I love my girls more than any post could ever express ♥️ Thank you for being my rocks and my family- whether it was in a hospital gown or in a wedding dress, you have always made me feel loved 🥰 #ittakesavillage #girlsquad #family
