Pictured left to right: Swamp Rat and Calton.
Swamp Rat was a local mercenary, a bow for hire. He got his name for his ability to put an arrow into the eye of a rat from 50 yards away. He was mostly being paid to climb up into a crows nest and ward off bandits with his bow, but often once word got around that he was protecting a property, no one would dare come close. When the Seven Year Orc War ended, and the Attonights invaded, he saw an opportunity to make much more gold robbing the corpses of Southerners with the Marsh Men. He serves as the look out, often signalling the approach of Attonights for an ambush and raining arrows down on them while the knights attack.
Calton was a notorious bandit who would hideout in the marshes after a big score. He came toe to toe with Swamp Rat a handful of times, sporting a scar 3 inches from his heart to prove it. In 731AV, his group of bandits successfully robbed an Attonight caravan, but all of his men were killed by Attonight mercenaries sent to retrieve the gold. Calton was captured days later by Karston Flint and his knights and he was convinced to pursue more noble goals. Calton learned that the loyalty of the small folk could be bought with gold and grain, which makes hiding a lot easier.
Swamp Rat was not initially pleased when Calton joined the Marsh Men, but the two have become close friends in the last 6 years. The two will often do small jobs together, robbing Attonight Lords or Casterwood men as they sleep in the taverns or brothels. They’ve also been known to set fire to properties owned by those loyal to the Casterwoods or Attonights. Sir Karston values the experience and knowledge of the marshes and the lands to the north that these two bring to the company.
